Who ever said art has to be serious?
Check out the West Shore Art Fair, a family-friendly two day event featuring a wide variety of art!
West Shore Art Fair returns to Ludington July 1-2
The 2023 West Shore Art Fair (WSAF) will take place in downtown Ludington’s Rotary Park, Saturday and Sunday, July 1-2.
This year’s WSAF will feature 90 jury-selected fine artists across a variety of media, including: clay, drawing, fiber, glass, jewelry, painting, photography, wood and more. Art fair hours are Saturday, July 1 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, July 2 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Now in its 55th year, the WSAF is an open-air, juried fine art and fine crafts show managed by the Ludington Area Center for the Arts, a nonprofit community arts organization that cultivates access to arts and culture in West Michigan. In addition to original, jury-selected art, the show features live performances, food stations, a children’s art activity area and the ever-popular WSAF Children’s Art Buying Tent.
The Children’s Art Buying Tent features original artwork and jewelry that are sold to children under the age of 16 for just $5. The goal of the Children’s Art Buying Tent is to provide children the opportunity to become patrons of the arts by allowing them to select and purchase original high-quality art. No adults are allowed in the tent. All artwork displayed in the art buying tent is donated by 2022 WSAF artists. All proceeds from the sale of art supports our children's programming at the Ludington Area Center for the Arts.
The WSAF food court, located along Lewis Street features 10 vendors this year. Vendors include, Krave, the Ludington Optimist Club, Ben’s Soft Pretzels, Norma’s Tamales & Mexican Cuisine, Cluck Bucket, the Rotary Club of Ludington, Lela’s Original Kettle Corn, Crazy Good Crapes, the Olive Branch and Paul’s Jerky.
Live music will once again fill the air during the WSAF. A mix of performers will take the stage Saturday, July 1 from noon to 5 p.m. and Sunday, July 2 from noon to 4 p.m. This year’s performers include, Ron Johnson, Edgar Struble and Ken Jury; Joe Irelan; Fremont John; LACA Ukulele Group; and Marty Ziemba performing Saturday. Rob’s Raiders; Third Coast Gypsy Jazz, Cheryl Wolfram; and the LACA String Band will perform Sunday.
A very limited number of 2023 WSAF commemorative posters and t-shirts designed by Ludington artist Chris VanWyck of Engine Creative will be available for purchase at the WSAF information booth. In addition to posters, the information booth will also be giving away WSAF cloth shopping bags to anyone purchasing an annual membership to the Ludington Area Center for the Arts. Memberships begin at just $40.
The West Shore Art Fair wouldn’t be possible without the generous contributions of Michigan businesses and organizations supporting the art fair that helps fund education, programming and operations at the Ludington Area Center for the Arts. Lead sponsors include Engine Creative, Heyse & Associates, V Construction & Landscape. Other event sponsors include: Starbucks, Walmart, Wesco and Family Fare.
