This month, Mays Media celebrated SIX YEARS in business 🥹✨ And somehow, this milestone feels a little extra sweet this year.

Six years ago, I was graduating from undergrad in the middle of a pandemic and taking a chance on starting a business without really knowing where it would lead me. Now, on Monday, August 24, I begin my dissertation, the final stretch toward earning my PhD 🎓

Going from a new college graduate building a business during one of the most uncertain times in our world to rounding out a doctorate while celebrating six years of Mays Media is something I’m still trying to wrap my head around.

This year has already given me so much to be grateful for. I was named one of Lynchburg’s Top 20 Under 40, and the three organizations that hold such huge pieces of my heart, Mays Media Marketing, Downtown Lynchburg Association, and Tresca on 8th, have all been nominated in so many categories this year 🤍

There have been late nights, early mornings, growing pains, big risks, lessons learned the hard way, incredible clients, amazing opportunities, and more moments of “how is this my life?” than I can count.

Looking back at the girl who graduated during a pandemic and decided to build something of her own, then looking at where I am six years later, is overwhelming in the very best way.

I don’t take any of it for granted.

Six years of Mays Media. A dissertation beginning. A PhD on the horizon. Recognition I never expected. And so many incredible people, businesses, clients, coworkers, friends, and family who have been part of it all.

Thank you for trusting me, supporting me, cheering me on, referring me, hiring me, and allowing me to keep doing what I love.

Here’s to six years and everything still ahead🥂✨

📸 No two days look the same around here and this week took us everywhere from a sentimental celebration and construction sites to car dealerships, hair salons, & happy hours 🍸🎉

We started the week at Tresca on 8th covering a baby shower for a couple who got married at the venue four years ago and came back to celebrate their next chapter in the same place. Getting to capture another one of their major life milestones made this one extra special 🍼✨

We captured content for Downtown Lynchburg Association for an upcoming Balance on the River feature, highlighting one of Downtown’s local hair salons and the role they play in the wellness scene.

Over at Tiger Sun, we captured the energy of their weekly comedy night while also getting a first look at their brand-new happy hour specials and jazz night event.

For Jamerson-Lewis Construction, we spent time with the team capturing staff headshots for upcoming work anniversaries and interviewing their interns as they wrap up their time with the company.

We also got to help announce an upcoming August event for a Downtown Lynchburg staple, bringing live music, local vendors, and more to a downtown space that has gotten a beautiful refresh over the last few years 🎶

And we wrapped up the week at Lynchburg Mazda, creating content around their current sales position opening while showcasing both their pre-owned inventory and brand-new Mazda lineup 🚗

Different industries, different audiences, different goals - and a whole lot of content. We love getting to tell the stories behind the businesses, organizations, events, and people we work with.

Our team spent the last few days with Randolph College documenting the inaugural cohort of its MFA in Arts Leadership program 📚

Throughout the week, students explored strategic planning, leadership, marketing, and other essential skills for leading in the arts. We had the opportunity to interview the students, capture daily video vlogs, and photograph the experience from start to finish.

One thing stood out in every conversation: the impact of learning alongside one another. While the faculty provided invaluable guidance, many students shared that the relationships, conversations, and collaboration within the cohort became just as meaningful as the curriculum itself.

These last few days were a powerful reminder that when passionate people and great ideas come together, incredible things happen. We’re grateful to have helped tell the story of such an inspiring program 💛

Every year, we make a Mays Media Client Bucket List, a list of brands and businesses we dream of partnering with. Since 2023, one of those dreams has been to work with a car dealership.

Today, we get to cross that goal off the list as we officially welcome Lynchburg Mazda to the Mays Media family 🚗✨
