Wisconsin soybean producers have elected Thomas Perlick of Sarona and Matt Wagenson of Bear Creek to serve three-year terms on WSMB. Perlick will represent District 1, while Wagenson returns to represent District 7.

Wisconsin soybean farmers are taking their seat at the table on the 2026 St. Lawrence Seaway Trade Revitalization Program trade mission put on by U.S. Identity Preserved Alliance.

So far our WSMB directors have traveled to Lisbon, Aveiro and Porto, experiencing Portugal’s ports, communities and agricultural landscape while learning more about the movement of goods and the connections that link producers here in the Midwest to customers around the world.

We’re proud to have Wisconsin represented alongside farmer leaders from Ohio and Minnesota and partners from across the Great Lakes–St. Lawrence Seaway region.

What does soybean research look like in the field? A lot of hard work, curiosity and questions that can make a real difference for Wisconsin growers.

At the recent UW–Madison Agronomy and Soils Field Day, growers got an up-close look at checkoff-funded research happening right here in Wisconsin, from fertility and disease management to crop rotation and nitrogen use.

Meet 17-year-old Devon Wilterdink of Hingham, better known to his friends as “The Farmer.”

Devon takes work release every other morning so he can work on the family farm before school, and he’s also becoming part of the family’s cheese business Little Brown Cow Cheese. His friends have even created ag-themed cheers for him at basketball games.

Whether it’s below zero or pushing 90 degrees, Devon shows up with a great attitude and rarely a complaint. He’s also a favorite farmhand for his young nephews, who love tagging along with “Uncle Dev.”

Farm profitability is a tough topic right now, and Wisconsin farmers are feeling the pressure.

WSMB Director Pat Mullooly recently spoke with Wisconsin Public Radio about today’s farm economy and how the challenges compare with the farm crisis of the 1980s.

As a sixth-generation farmer, Pat brings a unique perspective on managing risk, rising input costs and the uncertainty facing producers today.

Corn and soybean growers have seen several years of low commodity prices and increased costs for supplies like fertilizer and fuel. That has many farmers worried.
