Born in Camden, New Jersey “83” to a Teen mother and Immigrant Father. I am the 4th in my name but many have always seen me as the first in my color. I have been discriminated in two way. In my name and my appearance. Many hear my name and think I am an illegal Immigrant, as many see my skin and say, he is not Hispanic. I can’t win.
By the age of 18, I have attended 9 different schools, in 2 different states and 2 different countries. My first photography experience was an old non-name brand 35mm camera my father gave me. Expensive to maintain and expensive to develop prints. I shot my first short at an early age with a barely functioning 8mm camera titled, the traveling boy. A mini-documentary on how moving around from parent to parent was a struggle for a boy. I lost it all in Hurricane Andrew and once again, moved to another location. I suffered all my life with severe dyslexia and never learn proper math or grammar. Many call me intelligent but many also think I am illiterate & Slow. Even though my reading and writing is a flaw, I educate myself with knowledge and wisdom of other more fortunate and successful than me.
