JetBlue royally screwed up my daughter’s long trip to see her Turkish in-laws for their big holiday. JetBlue said they oversold the plane Thursday and she had to stay in Chicago. Then Friday late at night they shipped her via American to NYC from Chicago and said there would be a connection for her via Turkish Airlines. Everything was shut down. American and Jet Blue have her in a horrible loop in which she is riding the train from terminal to terminal asking each carrier to help
Her. They are all saying it’s not their problem but hers. She’s done this trip many times without a problem and the big difference is Jet Blue involved. I had no idea it was such a problem. Kait has photos of all her boarding passes and is polite and calm but this is too much after paying so much for a ticket. Kait has not had slept for days.

My deceased sister’s old friends from DSHA memorialized Mary at their jubilee and sent this flower which they graciously gave me via Chris and Cindi nee Hartman. Thank you. They sang the beautiful song “When I go” by Judy Collins and the words echo in my heart: “Your diamond tears will rise up and adorn the sky beside me when I go”

I think about Sue today and her upbeat attitude about her struggle with pancreatic cancer. My neglected page reminds me of languishing friendships and my deep affection for all of you despite my too busy life.

Two writing courses this semester, one in communications and one in journalism/English, fill my mornings with joy and hard work. The 20-something generation teaches me about technology and I teach it about the legacy of balanced journalism. We just finished a podcast in one class and head out to cover virtual meetings in the other. It gives me hope on these subzero days of stark white surroundings.

As we head into 2021,  our thoughts from 2013 still resonate. With a cancer-free declaration in 2013 from Doc Kahl, we still explore life after cancer and count the many miracles in our lives. We are filled with gratitude. Tom was ...
