Time for an update. After retiring (2nd time now) from the City of Madras, I’m now contracting with our local police department to help them build a strong administrative framework, train their team on technologies that will help increase efficiencies, and get their backlog caught up. In addition, I’ll be working in educational campaigns for the community that should improve their experience and provide officers more time in the field. It’s the kind of work I love and the people are the best!

COMING BACK FROM SABBATICAL
My sabbatical is coming up on a year. I didn't know how long it would be when I stepped back, but it has been time well spent. After working nearly non-stop days, nights, weekends for 7 years, a sabbatical gave me space to determine what kind of work truly gives me joy.

Going forward, I will no longer provide day-to-day marketing for businesses. While all of my clients were lovely and I enjoyed watching their businesses grow, it was never my intent to become a full-time marketing agent for each business. My intent was to teach them how to market their business for themselves. However, the "teaching" became the "doing" and in the process I became exhausted.

I am returning to the original intent of my business, hence the name, and will focus on assisting agencies with "Savvy Strategies" to help them achieve big visions. This is what I do best and what I find is needed most.

Many people can’t understand why I should be paid to “put stuff” on Facebook for them. It’s about strategy. Strategic images, messaging, who they’re trying to reach, what outcome they want and getting all of that quickly before the scroller moves on! That and so much more... Most of the time they haven’t thought about any of that. Then they bash social media saying it’s a waste of time. Sigh.

Every day I continue to meet women entrepreneurs who marvel me. All it takes is a 5-10 minute chat about THEM. Not their business, but them. I am always taken aback by how phenomenal they are, what they’ve overcome, and their desires to help other women. SIMPLE MISTAKES THAT COST YOU BIG
It might seem unbelievable, but one simple mistake I see over and over again in small business marketing is people actually spelling their business name incorrectly when setting up their pages and email addresses! If you have difficulty with spelling or proofreading issues, please have someone review your work BEFORE you launch. It's quite difficult to go back and fix these later.
