At times it has been challenging to find balance between a marriage and work, and everything that this life and world can throw at you. I wouldn't have survived any of it without you by my side. Proud to share Sarah and RJ's feline-filled super 8 style elopement video with all of you! Lana'i Cat Sanctuary is a special place for me personally because it was a huge inspiration in the founding of my own cat-rescue non-profit, Good Cat Network.

In fact, Kent and I went to Lana'i Cat Sanctuary eleven years ago just to make a little video to help get the word out about their amazing work. Shortly afterward, they were globally recognized, showing up on TV shows and news all over, and for good reason!

Fast forward to today, we've filmed over 400 weddings and not a single one at Lana'i Cat Sanctuary. I have 13 cats of my own. I founded a non-profit. Why hasn't this happened yet?!? So, when the opportunity arose, I POUNCED at the opportunity (sorry.)

Talk about dream team! Reverend Jules and photographer are both big animal people. Maddy is the one who connected us with Sarah and RJ and we cannot thank her enough.

We had such a fun time with Sarah and RJ adventuring - we started our day at baby beach in Lahaina, then we took the ferry, watched them tie the knot, and threw Temptation Cat Treats as they walked down the aisle. Sarah and RJ are also rescuers themselves and have two cats of their own.

📣👋🏼🌺Big announcement: we started a non-profit to help Hawai'i’s cats!

It’s been months of hard work, sleepless nights, a million emails and digital signatures but it’s all been worth it.

Good Cat Network is a fully registered 501(c)(3) organization with 100% of all donations going to help bring feral cat populations down by spay and neuter efforts, socializing kittens and getting them adopted into loving homes and by flying out adoptable kitties to the participating mainland shelters.

Don’t fret though! Ohana Films is here to stay! We’ll be donating a portion of the proceeds each year to Good Cat Network. So, each wedding film will also helping to save the lives of Hawai’i’s cats 😻

This is probably the biggest passion project of my life. We are so excited to finally share it with our Ohana Films community and look forward to saving lives together.

🌈We had to say goodbye to our sweet Nana girl yesterday.
To be honest for a moment - the cats have all been a little more bonded to me. It's something that I really can't control. Maybe it's because I feed them and maybe it's because my thighs are fatter and provide a better bed for them to sit on, but they’re just a bit more connected to me.
With Nana though, you could just tell that she favored Kent. Those big brown eyes would just stare at him. Even when I tried to get her attention, if Kent was in the room she'd just want to look at him and be next to him. There was an unexplainable but beautiful connection there and I loved seeing it get stronger every day.
We’ve never actually gone out to adopt any of our pets. They’ve all just sort of found their way to us. Nana was no different. The stars aligned in February of 2018 and all of a sudden, we had a dog.
She was a good girl. The BEST girl. She accepted all of the cats and let them sleep in her beds. She was so warm and wonderful to hug. She loved to roll around in her blankets, and especially when warm from the dryer. She loved peanut butter, and thank goodness she wasn't allergic to that.
She LOVED her walk into Makawao town, that Kent would give to her daily. She knew everyone at the Rodeo General Store and would get waves and "great looking dog!" shouted to her from guys in pickups. She pranced up and down Baldwin and Makawao Ave. like she owned the place. And to me, she did.
Gradually that prance turned into a slow walk with many breaks. As 2020 luck would have it, Nana started to show signs of canine cognitive disorder just a few weeks ago, back in November. Two days ago, everything pointed to a brain tumor. It was the hardest decision we've had to make and most excruciating emotional pain that we've had to endure. But ending her pain was necessary.
Yesterday, we said goodbye.
When we drove back from the vet yesterday there was probably the biggest rainbow we have ever seen right over Makawao town. We drove her through Makawao town, one more time, and then buried her.

We love you so much Nana girl. Rest in peace. No pet will ever replace you and you were the best dog in the entire world. 💓🌈

One of our traditions is donating to local charities during the holidays.

Ohana Films is a proud member of Maui Wedding Creatives, and MWC has organized a food drive to help local Maui families during the holiday season.

I am asking you to donate to this AMAZING cause that benefits not only the families receiving the fresh produce, but the local farmers that grow it. Win-win!

Please help the Maui Wedding Creatives raise funds to purchase Multiple CSA farm produce boxes to give away weekly for deserving members of our Community.

This last year has been the most difficult of our lives. So many of our friends and neighbors have lost their businesses or jobs have no idea how they are going to feed their families. Thankfully we have an amazing community on our island that takes care of one another. MWC wishes to do the same and contribute to some of that hope we all need.

Each share is $450 for a 3 month membership, full of beautiful, organic vegetables grown by our local farmers. Helping support them is another added bonus. Our goal is to raise funds to purchase 3 shares so we can give to as many in need as possible.
We will start each week by asking for nominations to receive a bounty of locally grown, fruits and vegetables. At the end of week, one of our Maui Wedding Creatives will delivery the box to our neighbors in need.

Seasonal Harvested goods could include:
Avocado, Bananas, Beets, Bok Choy, Basil, Broccoli, Carrots, Eggplant, Grapefruit, Green Beans, Lettuce, Leeks and so much more

SO FRESH, SO LOCAL ✨🌈 is doing some amazing things-from community outreach to their organic farming practices to their HUGE hearts...I encourage you to follow them and support them. Their CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program is awesome because it’s community oriented and is beautifully sustainable. You eat what’s in season and you support your local economy. THIS is the only way we’ll be able to survive in the long run. Now is the time to change your eating habits. Buy local. Support local. Our lives and our earth depends on it. Go ahead and google CSA participating farmers in your area and go to farmers markets! 🌱🥬🍏🍎🥕🌶🥭🌽🍓🍊🍋🫑🧅🍍🫒🫐🍈🍌🍉🍇🥥🥝🍆🍅🥔🧄
