🚨 Noticing a Drop in Your Search Rankings? Let’s Check Under the Hood! 🚨
If your site’s rankings have taken a hit and you’re thinking it might be linked to a recent Google core update, don’t worry! Here’s a quick checklist from Google to help you troubleshoot:
First things first, confirm the update’s done rolling out: Head over to the Search Status Dashboard to double-check the start and end dates. Make sure the update has fully rolled out before you start digging into the data.
Compare your data wisely: Give it about a week after the update wraps up before diving into Search Console. When you do, compare this week’s performance with the week before the update started. This way, you can spot any real changes more accurately.
Take a closer look at your top pages and queries: Check out how they were ranking before and after the update. If you notice a small drop, like moving from position 2 to 4, your content is still solid—no need for major changes. But if there’s a big drop, say from position 4 to 29, it’s worth doing a deeper dive to see what’s up.
Break it down by search type: Whether it’s Web Search, Google Images, Video mode, or the News tab, analyzing these separately can give you more insight into where the drop happened.
Remember, it’s all about understanding what’s changed and adapting where necessary. 🚀
