When is a Good Time to Sell Your Investment Property?

I like to use a simple rule of thumb on this one... when have exceeded $250K/$500K in tax-free gains. The government allows you to pay zero capital gains tax on the first $250K in profits for individuals, and the first $500K in profits for married couples for your primary residence. Once you have hit this tax threshold, it's a good time to think about cashing out.
