Meet Garet Farney, a 5th generation farmer and livestock producer in rural Kansas. Garet, his wife & two daughters reside in Sterling, KS where he is the Feedlot Manager and Cow/Calf Operator for Zimm’s Feedlot. Garet sees feeding cattle and being a part of the agricultural and feedlot industry as a responsibility to be stewards of God’s creation, helping feed the world all while enjoying the opportunity to do so alongside his friends and family. Garet believes Braveheart is a pinnacle of the cattle industry – combining good Angus genetics, and proper management and third-party verification of best practices in the feedyard. He says the Braveheart Angus Beef program allows Zimm’s Feedlot to take an active role in providing a superior protein source with a verified story to consumers.

The best way to learn about cattle production is to see it firsthand! And we were honored to host our friends from Performance Food Service Missouri for a tour of Knight Feedlot. We learned about the cattle, their feed and the care they receive.

Meet Jesse Landin, Manager of McClymont Feedyard in Holderedge, NE. A Nebraska native and longtime cattleman, Jesse Landin of Reagan, NE is no stranger to the hard work it takes to produce high quality beef. After attending college and working on a farm with a small feedlot, Jesse took a position as a mill manager for McClymont Feedyard in 2007 and promoted to Feedyard Manager in 2010. For Jesse, the Braveheart program allows him to have a part in procuring and handling some of the highest quality cattle in the world, which allows McClymont Feedyard to be a part of producing a healthy, safe and delicious product.

Another successful Braveheart Supply Chain Immersion event!

The last week of September we had 18 restaurant, grocery store, butcher shop owners and protein salesmen in Kansas to show them the supply chain, from cattle in the pasture, to the feedlot then finally at the packing plant in Garden City, KS.

The beef supply is complex, and we are proud to show our partners our operations and help them understand how great beef is produced - from pasture to plate.

You will be hard pressed to find a bigger champion of Braveheart Black Angus Beef or BMG than Chris. "In my daily role with PFG I am LUCKY enough that I get to work with Braveheart Branded Beef every day. I may use the word work, but when you work with some of the finest beef on the planet it's never really work to me. I enjoy working with PFG customers as well as BMG and their fine folks to bring quality beef to the nation!"
