Ney Pimentel is a brand identity expert with over 15+ years of working experience in the entertainment and creative industry. Growing up in the early 80s in New York City, Ney developed a passion for art and interpreting the message behind every design, a rare creative skill that helped prepare him for his life’s journey. Ney began his career as a Senior Graphic Designer with Faber Castell (former
ly Eberhard Faber). A few years later he became a Senior Graphic Designer at Bentex Kiddie Corporation, designing merchandise for children-favorite brands Warner Brothers and Walt Disney. where he worked as the Art Director, and they became the name behind the corporate identity including logo, website, and print design for companies like; A&E, The History Channel, Wu Wear, Capital Records, LL Cool J, Kenneth Cole, and FUBU. As DESIGNEY grew, Ney began a side project, Latinflava, the Internet’s first online Spanglish magazine style website, which later became his most successful endeavors. In 1999, he entered into a multimillion dollar deal with UBO and pushed Latinflava to the next level. Within a few years, Latinflava became Latinflava/Clavo Music, UBO’s own in-house record label. In 2002, Ney became the Senior Visual Designer and Senior VP of A&R of UBO, and in 2006, he parted ways with UBO and started Brand Anarchy Group, now Brand Anarchy. To take a step further into harnessing his talents, Ney found his way into the hip-hop community. He signed on as the clothing designer for Wu-Tang’s debut clothing line, Wu Wear. In addition to handling Wu-Tang fashion line, Ney was instrumental in naming the project and designed the artwork for the rap group’s 2nd studio album, Wu-Tang Forever, which sold over 4 million records. Prior to that, he worked with Rocawear, where he designed the first wave of the Rocawear clothing line which Jay-Z went on to sell to the Iconix Brand Group for $204 million in cash in 2017. As a Brand Identity Designer, Ney pushes creative boundaries. This is evident in his brand images for A&E, Heineken, Madonna, The Wailers, Hennessy, PUMA, WICOtv and Beats by Dr. Dre. As a matter of fact, six of his logos have been published in four prestigious identity design books. Ney Pimentel is a graduate of Montclair State University with a degree in Graphic Design and a concentration in the psychology of design and brand identity. To him, design is everything.
