Hey there, I’m Melissa!
And I’m the little redhead behind the “M” brand. I’m a fifth-generation farmer and a first-generation Hereford cattlewoman. My family’s Maryland farm planted in me a love of agriculture and gave me wings to chase after my creativity.
Growing up, I was always discovering ways to document our farm life through drawing, painting and eventually photography and graphic design. It was the perfect way to combine my passion for this industry and art.
Now, I’m a full-time creative helping other farmers and ranchers promote their businesses. I also capture special moments as a family, senior and couples portrait photographer. I love helping others. I love learning from others. I love seeing others succeed, and capturing the important occasions along the way. It’s my heart for people, cattle and rural life that led to Melissa Photography & Design. This business is my love language and I truly believe that serving others in this way is my calling in life.
Today home is God’s Country — the Kansas Flint Hills where my husband, Shane and I raise Simmental and Hereford cattle. It’s rare you’ll find me far from cows or my camera, but if you do, I’m probably behind the wheel of Gwen (my Jeep), playing with my Australian Shepherds Sage and Skye, or munching on chips and queso!
As much as I am an artist, I am a cattlewoman. The farm that inspired my creative heart stems from a legacy long before me. It’s an honor to help other families carry on their own heritage and build successful businesses of their own.
My suitcase is always packed, and my camera and computer are ready to work. If there’s anything I can do for you, please reach out! Let's chat and make some magic!
