Well said!
Some people will read this and think it’s “too harsh.”
But part of growing up is learning that the world has rules, limits, expectations, and consequences.
Not hearing “no” occasionally is not healthy.
Never being corrected is not healthy.
Believing actions should never have consequences is not healthy either.
Children do not benefit from being protected from every uncomfortable feeling.
They benefit from learning resilience.
Accountability.
Respect.
Self-control.
How to handle disappointment.
How to take responsibility when they make mistakes.
That does not mean being cruel to children.
It means preparing them for real life instead of pretending real life will always adapt to them.
Structure and boundaries are not the opposite of caring.
For many children, they are proof that someone cares enough to teach them right from wrong.
