One of the biggest misconceptions I see is that being active on social media automatically translates into being able to market a business.
It doesnât.
Think about it this way.
Most of us know how to drive a car.
That doesnât mean we know how to build an engine.
The same is true for social media.
Creating content, following trends, and growing a personal account are valuable skills. But marketing a business requires another layer of thinking.
Youâre not just trying to get views.
Youâre trying to build trust.
Generate qualified leads.
Increase conversions.
Strengthen your brand.
Support sales.
That means understanding your audience, their buying journey, what motivates them to act, how to position your business, and how to measure whether your marketing is actually working.
Social media is a tool.
Marketing is the strategy behind how you use it.
When youâre hiring someone to help your business grow, donât just look at how many followers they have or how aesthetic their feed is.
Ask them how theyâd approach your business.
The quality of their thinking will tell you far more than the quality of their portfolio.
