Whenever I come back to LA, I stay by the marina. ☀️ I lived by the water for years before moving back to New York, and there’s something about being here that brings it all back, quieter mornings, a slower pace, a different rhythm to everything. A reminder of a chapter that felt a little more peaceful!

We’ve spent years optimizing content for search, but search isn’t the only gatekeeper anymore. 🔥 As AI becomes part of how people research, filter, and discover information, the question shifts from “does this rank?” to “does this get surfaced?”… and more specifically, does it get quoted, summarized, or cited inside AI responses. That’s where generative engine optimization (GEO) comes in. Because GEO isn’t about gaming keywords, it’s about creating content that AI can actually understand, pull from, and reuse when it answers a question. You can still make ‘too cool for school’ content… but if it’s not structured in a way that gets picked up, it’s not getting in front of your audience in the same way anymore. The brands that figure out how to be included in the answer, not just rank next to it, will have the advantage. What’s your experience making sure AI engines are picking up the content you’re putting out?

A night at Webster Hall with Sophie Ellis-Bextor (), because Murder on the Dancefloor still hits the same. 🎶 With Katherine O’Hara () and Emily Venegopal (), now Head of PR at InterContinental, but more importantly, one of my oldest friends. Some things don’t change, and it was one of those nights that just feels easy!

The real alignment with AI isn’t the prompt, it’s the memory. If you’re starting from scratch every time, you’re not compounding anything. 🔥 What actually changes the output is capturing what it learns about you… your style, your expectations, how you think… and turning that into something you can reuse. Whether that’s a master learnings document or simply asking it what it picked up at the end of a project, that context is what makes it better the next time. And when a conversation starts to slow down or lose quality, you don’t keep forcing it. You have it create a handoff so you can start fresh without losing everything you built. Because over time, you’re not just getting outputs. You’re building context. And context is what actually makes AI work. What is your favorite way to incorporate AI into your workflow?

Rainy days in New York with Henry mean adjusting the routine. 🗽 When outside isn’t an option, the hallway becomes the park, and a ball goes a long way. Simple solutions, fully entertained!

AI isn’t plug-and-play. The narrative that a few ‘perfect prompts’ will transform your workflow overnight is… optimistic. At best. Because the real value doesn’t come from the first output, it comes from the iteration, the refinement, and knowing how to actually work the prompt until it produces something you’d stand behind. Those first prompts? They’ll get you something decent. But if you don’t keep pushing, you’re getting surface-level thinking at best. ➡️ And that’s where people get stuck. It’s not that AI isn’t powerful, it’s that it’s not as easy as everyone is making it sound… and that can be intimidating. But once you get past that and actually learn how to use it, something shifts. It stops being a tool you occasionally test… and starts becoming a thought partner you can rely on. Stay tuned for part two!

with and live at in Brooklyn with Jenny Bohuslavsky (). ➡️ Always interesting to hear how these conversations land in a live setting, different energy, different perspective. Curtis Sliwa was probably the most surprising for me. A bit unconventional, but more pragmatic than expected. And the venue itself didn’t hurt, Kings Theatre is one of those places that makes you pause for a second before anything even starts. When was the last time a speaker shifted your perspective in real time?

There’s a difference between criticism and calibration, especially at a high level. The kind of feedback that actually helps you improve is often direct, specific, and sometimes hard to hear. 🔥 The challenge is that from the outside, it can look harsh. But from the inside, it can be exactly what’s needed. Context matters, but so does intent. And not everyone responds to the same style. Curious how people think about this, what kind of coaching actually brings out your best?

A few snapshots from . Thai food at the Banyan Tree, a place I stayed at years ago and still think about, and drinks at The Edition’s Library Bar. Mornings overlooking the mangroves, afternoons by the beach, and a room with its own plunge pool that felt like a more tropical version of my apartment. The perfect balance of relaxing… but also knowing you’re happy to leave when it’s time. That’s usually how you know you picked the right place!

Gen Z is right about a lot of things, protecting mental health, questioning outdated work norms, and pushing for flexibility. But reputation still matters. ➡️ If you’re not visible, it’s hard for senior leaders to form an impression of your work, your thinking, or your potential. Being in the room gives you the chance to ask smart questions, share your perspective, and build the kind of professional reputation that leads to bigger opportunities.
Early in your career, visibility is part of the learning curve. Show up. It matters!

Thanksgiving at the . Sun, ocean, and just enough quiet before the holidays ramped up. ☀️ And in true small-world fashion, I ran into my podcast producer Kyle in the lobby, me checking in, him checking out. We live on opposite coasts, and somehow managed to cross paths in Mexico. New York to California… via Riviera Mayacoba. You really can’t make that up!

If you’re feeling stuck, this episode with professor at NYU is worth a listen. 🔥 He explains the science of getting out of a rut, not through big breakthroughs, but through small shifts: breaking goals into smaller wins, disrupting routines, reducing choices, and giving your brain time to unfocus and reset. The point is simple: progress usually starts when the path feels easier to begin. I’ve dropped the link in the comments, and I also recommend reading Adam Alter’s book, it’s a thoughtful, science-backed look at how we actually get unstuck. Give it a listen!
