Major update!

We had an awesome conversation with Vantage Coffee Roasters/Higher Ground Coffee co. and Brandon with CRAVE - Martin, TN about a grill out and silent auction in the courtyard on May 16th. All the details are being worked out right now, but that’s going to be an amazing event!

We’ve already received donations for the silent auction fundraiser from Martin Running Company, Styles On Broadway Salonspa, The Hearth, Reynolds Brothers Tires, Blackberry Pond Farm, Sugar and Spice Ladies Clothing & Jewelry, and Napa Auto Parts. We’ll be posting what they donated and how to bid in the silent auction soon.

The rest of the details for the silent auction and grill out event will officially be announced in the coming week.

Touch a Truck event at the library April 18th, 10:00am to 2:00pm. Don’t miss out. All proceeds will go toward providing the life saving equipment our firefighters need.

We’re still trying to get in touch with Thunderbolt Radio News to help promote the event on Facebook!

The next Friends of a Firefighter meeting is at the coffee shop on Tuesday, March 31 at 5:30pm. If you’re interested in being part of the team helping make this happen, come join us.

If you picked up the Weakley County Press today, there’s a QR code where you can donate to support our firefighters directly! Thank you so much for the local paper helping get the word out about this!

Thankful once again to We Care for managing donations for this campaign and helping get our firefighters the equipment they need to operate in a burning building.

So thankful for our community coming together to support our firefighters to get the equipment they need!

For me, being a Tennessean has always been rooted in freedom.
Freedom to live your own life, do the right thing, and help your neighbors without being told.
Tennessee was built by people who showed up without being asked. Who worked long days, stood by their word, and understood that responsibility is chosen, not assigned.
The Volunteer State earned its name in 1812, when Tennesseans stepped forward to fight even though they were not required to. That same instinct still shows up today in how people take care of their neighbors, protect their small towns, and look after their communities without waiting for permission.
Freedom paired with responsibility.
Independence balanced by care for place and people.
There is nothing wrong with pride in where you come from. Pride in your country. Pride in the old ways of doing things. In working hard. In respecting those who sacrificed to secure the freedom we live with today.
This state belongs to those willing to live honestly, stay rooted, and volunteer to help one another.

If you want to stay inside during all the snowy weather, watch movies, drink hot cocoa, and read books, that’s OK. Sounds like a great plan. If you want to get outside, go sledding, drive around, or build a snowman, that’s fine too.
Telling people what they should or shouldn’t do in a morally superior tone of “being concerned for people’s safety” is so fake. Focus on yourself and let people do what they want. People underestimate how capable the population of Martin really is. They know how to drive. They know how to make their own decisions. They know what’s best for them. “Out of an abundance of…” fake.
Honestly, I’ve never seen the city this prepared. Crews have worked around the clock on the roads, Walmart has been mostly stocked, and it’s been as positive as it could be with the conditions.

We traded designing and marketing this new design for Martin's Coffee and Bakery for coffee and cookies. Could not be happier with it.

My boss Courtney approves of the new door design! This is a relief since it is my first real installation since becoming a stay at home/ coffee shop dad. She did leave me with a banned words and phrases list for any future sharing on this page, which I am tempted to post, but I do not want to push my luck yet. Anyway, it is Saturday and I think it is time for our largest giveaway yet. Stay tuned for the next post with the details… P.S. It has something to do with 100 free drinks.
