When you are self employed, you have to be your own party sometimes. 3 decades and 7 years ago, I was birthed into the "print" industry. There was no Ai, Photoshop, Indesign, Internet.... LOL. My first job was being a "stripper" at the Buyers Guide. Don't laugh. I had fun telling my new husband that I was a stripper. See, back in those days of old, one had to take strips of paper, roll it through a roller with wax, use an x-acto kive to cut and paste up the big sheets. It was a time of learning what a deadline truly was. Having school smarts did not matter, it was about one-on-one learning and having a diploma was not required, just a good eye, a drive to learn and good worth ethics. I was there for 8 yrs. Then I quit for very personal reasons. My design career has taken me to Herndon, Chantilly, Ashburn, and "home" in to self employment. I always say self employment is a two edge sword. It has goods and bads. I know God has me here, even now, for a reason or two. Even If I am tired because my health flucks daily, I do what He has me do... for Him first, my husband, my family, my friends and my clients. Did you notice I did not add me? 🙂 LOL. Most folks change careers 2-3x by now. I have not. Reflect. I'll be 57 end of May. Grateful. Always.
