Our story begins with lots of trial and error (mostly error) in the beginning. In 2013 Rob & I talked about what we could do as a business to earn a little extra income and provide a service to Coles County and the surrounding area. With both of us having exten
sive retail backgrounds we knew it would be something in that field but at that point we weren't sure what that exactly meant. Being an avid team Mom who always wanted a "cool" shirt to wear to a game I quickly realized I was spending a small fortune going on to the online retailers just to find something or to have something made. Midwest Moms are some of the most devoted to their sports and their kids and I found others asking where I got my shirts. From there an idea was planted with Rob, who was secretly researching t-shirt businesses while I was busy searching for my new Mom shirts. One day out of the blue he suggested a t-shirt business out of our garage. I thought he was crazy!! We had no clue how to make shirts, sell them yes, make them not a single clue. While I was the pessimist he was the optimist and set out to find out how you make t-shirts. I vividly remember Rob saying several times "It can't be that hard, right?" By this time the holidays were right around the corner and I chose to "forget" his idea. In January 2014 out of the blue he told me he had signed himself up for a weekend screenprinting class. He was going to show me "it can't be that hard, because I have watched people on You Tube do it." He went to the class and came home more excited than I have seen him in years. The entire 2 hour drive home we were on the phone and he was telling me how easy it is, we can do this. He often tells me I am the pessimist (I prefer to call it being realistic) we had zero experience actually making the shirts, but after that class I knew there was no turning him back. He continued to try and sell me on the idea for a couple weeks. By that I mean he bought all new equipment and it was being delivered in a 2 weeks. Two weeks later this huge spaceship looking thing was delivered and filled our garage. This huge dryer was delivered and all I could think about was it looked like a great oven to bake lots of cookies or make 10 pizzas at one time. We jumped in with both feet and that's where the story truly begins. Through lots of trial and error, and some tears of frustration shed we knew we would figure it out someday. I just hoped sooner rather than later. He was always saying "Renee' it can't be that hard." He was determined to make it work and we plugged along with a lot of late nights, weekends, and frustration but complete elation when things went right. Jump forward 4 years and as any business owner will tell you there are always bumps in the road but those potholes are very quickly replaced with tiny bumps that quickly pass as we continue to learn. Each training & trade show we attend we learn more and are searching for the newest and greatest ideas to bring back to Coles County. Our kids are now grown with Rhandi and our grandson Finn close by and with Noah attending Augustana College we are devoting more time in the evening to the business. Weekends in the fall & spring will be tied up chasing Noah around the MidWest watching his sports. We have the best friends & family two people could ask for and without all of you willing to give us a shot we would certainly not be where we are today. This business grew through all of you and the power of Word of Mouth advertising. Our #1 goal is to make you smile/ Our hope is that when you sent us that sketched design on a napkin that we were able to turn your vision into something bigger, brighter, bolder, and more than you had envisioned. Nothing makes us happier than to watch you open that box of shirts for the first time and see your smiles. Everyone loves a good t-shirt, and our smiles come when we are out & about and see you wearing one of the shirts we made somewhere along in this journey.
