This past weekend, Robbie and I celebrated 5 years of marriage. Robbie started Oak & Twine not long after we got married, and it’s been the best ride ever since!
People often ask what it’s like to work with your spouse every day. The truth is, it’s all of it. Rewarding.
Challenging.
Stressful.
Fulfilling.
Some days we’re solving problems before breakfast, celebrating wins by lunch, and talking about tomorrow’s game plan over dinner. Building a business together has taught us far more than how to run a company. It’s taught us patience when things don’t go as planned, trust when hard decisions have to be made, and resilience when giving up would have been easier. We’ve learned that success isn’t built in the big moments. It’s built in the ordinary ones. The early mornings, late nights, difficult conversations, shared sacrifices, and quiet moments when we look at each other and realize we’re creating something bigger than ourselves.
This business isn’t just our livelihood. It’s a reflection of our marriage. It has grown because we’ve grown. Owning a business with your best friend and life partner is one of the hardest things we’ve ever done, but it’s also one of the greatest gifts. We get to build a life we believe in, serve a community we love, and chase a dream side by side.
Here’s to five years of marriage & nearly five years of Oak & Twine, and whatever God has planned for the years ahead.
