My name is Mabel Akin-Abiodun, and I am the proud owner of Mabel’s African Cuisine here in McKinney, Texas. For nearly 25 years, Mabel has been blessed to be part of the catering business, sharing the rich flavors, traditions, and hospitality of African cuisine with family, friends, and our community.
The idea of opening a restaurant came from her husband, who encouraged her to take everything she had learned and loved about catering and bring it to a new level. They didn't want to open just another restaurant. They wanted to create an experience—one that would showcase African cuisine in an elegant, welcoming, and unforgettable way.
Three years ago, they took that leap of faith and opened Mabel’s African Cuisine, a fine-dining African restaurant dedicated to bringing authentic flavors and exceptional hospitality to McKinney. Opening the restaurant has been one of the biggest decisions of our lives. It has also been one of the most meaningful. Every dish we serve represents years of experience, family traditions, passion, and a deep love for African food and culture. Our vision is simple: to give our guests an opportunity to experience African cuisine beyond the plate—to taste the culture, feel the warmth of our hospitality, with an experience they will remember. Mabel’s African Cuisine is more than a restaurant to us. It is a dream, a family journey, and a celebration.
