A conversation opens the door to a relationship. For me, podcasting starts there.

I’m joining AgencyCon as a panelist to talk about lead generation with podcasting!

On my podcast, Own Your Next, I interview people who are owning their next big move in business. We talk about their decisions, their challenges, and how they’re moving forward.

AI is a BIG part of most of our guest conversations. We explore how people are putting AI to work, changing how they run their businesses, and preparing for what comes next.

At AgencyCon, I’m looking forward to talking about podcasting as a way to:

• Start meaningful conversations.
• Build relationships with people you want to know.
• Share your expertise and introduce your guests’ perspectives.
• Create opportunities for future business.

Join me October 8–9, 2026, at the Children’s Museum of Denver at Marsico Campus.

Will I see you there?

A client recently told us how excited they were to have Chickenango on their team.

Their reason caught our attention.

They valued having a standalone public engagement firm at the table.

Not because engineering firms do not have talented public involvement professionals. Many of them do. But when public engagement operates inside an engineering firm, it can be difficult for the engagement strategy to remain independent from the technical process.

As a standalone firm, Chickenango brings a different perspective.

Our role is not to push out information after technical decisions have already been made. We help project teams listen earlier, understand community concerns, identify potential challenges and use what we learn to strengthen the project.

We work alongside engineers, planners and agency leaders as public engagement experts, bringing the community perspective into the conversation when it can still make a difference.

Public engagement is not an add-on service for us.

It is our expertise.

It is what we do every day.

And according to our clients, that difference matters.

250 years of freedom deserves one proud little chicken. 🐔 Happy 4th of July from the Chickenango flock! We are stepping away from the coop today to celebrate with family, friends, and probably too much barbecue. Be safe out there, and happy Independence Day! 🎆

Whooo Hooooo!!! CO 52 Signal Project at WCR 41
If you drive CO 52 between Hudson and Fort Lupton, your trip just got safer. New traffic signals are now live at Weld County Road 41, bringing order to a busy rural intersection where drivers once had to judge fast moving cross traffic on their own. Signalized intersections like this one are proven to reduce the most dangerous types of crashes, which means more people getting home safely.

We are proud to have partnered with Volkert on this CDOT project, leading public involvement from the first update to the final one. Big changes on the road only work when the people who use it know what to expect, so we kept residents, commuters and local stakeholders informed every step of the way. That matters most at the finish line. Clear closure information tells drivers exactly when the new signals go live and how the traffic pattern is changing, which removes the confusion that causes close calls during a transition.

Thank you to the Volkert team and CDOT for welcoming Chickenango onto this project. Work like this is why we love what we do.

Because every project runs better when the public stays informed.

We have been busy. Like, "is it really only May?" busy.

Since February, the Chickenango team has planned, packed up, and shown up in person for TWELVE public engagement events across Colorado, Wyoming, and Texas:

✓ Timnath Project Fair
✓ I-25 Interchange & Multimodal Study Community Center Event
✓ Town of Erie ThinkBike Workshop
✓ Timnath Council Work Session
✓ TxDOT Paris District Bike Plan Outreach Event
✓ Timnath Stakeholder Group Event
✓ Erie Arbor Day for I-25 Multimodal
✓ Commerce City SpeakUp Event
✓ Mountain Rail West Metro Station Open House
✓ Laramie County, WY Chalk Bluff Open House
✓ Commerce City Open House
✓ Erie Town Fair for the I-25 Multimodal Study

Small teams. Big projects. Months of planning behind every single one. The kind of coordination that does not happen by accident.

It happens because Chickenango has A players whose purpose and mission align with ours, and whose hearts are fully invested in the clients and communities we serve.

And somewhere in all that beautiful chaos, we quietly celebrated 8 YEARS in business.

You do not make it 8 years in this industry unless you have a team who eats, sleeps, and lives the core values and mission of the company. Ours does. And we are endlessly grateful for every one of them.

Here is to the humans who make public engagement actually engaging.

8 years ago today, I took one of the biggest risks of my life.

I walked away from the comfort of a steady job and decided to bet on myself and start Chickenango Marketing Solutions. 🐔💛

What started as one woman, a laptop, and a whole lot of determination has grown into something I could have never imagined. Along the way, one little chicken somehow became the face of the fun… Egbert P. Chickenango. 😂

Over the years, Egbert has dressed up for holidays, worn costumes, lifted weights, played hockey, worked construction zones, and basically become the company mascot with his own fan club. And honestly? That silly chicken represents something really important to me.

Business can be hard. Life can be hard. But I’ve always believed you can work incredibly hard AND still create joy, creativity, laughter, and fun along the way.

To celebrate our 8 Year Anniversary, we created this super fun Lisa Frank inspired Egbert graphic and turned it into a magnet for the OFFICIAL Egbert Fan Club! 🌈✨🐔

Want one?
DM me your address and I’ll ship one out to you!

Thank you to everyone who has supported Chickenango over the last 8 years. Every like, comment, referral, client, friendship, and connection has meant more than you know.

And to Egbert… thanks for always bringing the chaos. 😂

One of the best parts of life, in my opinion, is the opportunity to learn.

I started Chickenango almost 9 years ago. That alone puts us past some very real business survival statistics.

Here is what the data typically shows about business survival in the United States:

• About 20 percent of businesses fail within the first year
• Roughly 30 percent fail by year two
• Around 50 percent do not make it past year five
• Close to 65 percent close within ten years
• That means only about 35 percent of businesses make it to the ten year mark

When you really look at those numbers, surviving nearly a decade is not small.

Looking back on the journey, the early years were about winning work and doing the work. Then came hiring. Occasionally firing. Growing. Expanding into other states. Figuring out compliance, operations, cash flow, culture, leadership, and who we actually are.

Every phase required a different version of me.

One of the most important things I have learned is that luck plays a much smaller role in success than most people think. Yes, there is always a tiny element of timing and opportunity. But what matters far more is your willingness to learn.

Learn from your mistakes.
Learn from people further ahead than you.
Learn when things go wrong.
Learn when things go right.

The best financial investment I have ever made is in myself. Courses. Mentors. Books. Coaching. Conversations. Reflection.

Skill compounds.
Awareness compounds.
Resilience compounds.

Luck fades fast. Growth does not.

If you are in year one, two, or five, keep learning. That is the edge.

🍁 Chickenango Thanksgiving Message

This time of year always pulls me into reflection. Not the polished, corporate newsletter kind, but the quiet moments in between the chaos where you look around and realize just how much life has given you, even when it did not go the way you expected.

When I started Chickenango seven years ago, I had no idea what I was doing. Truly. I was a 48-year-old entrepreneur who wanted to build something that let me serve clients well and create a place where people felt valued. Through all the ups and downs, and the moments of doubt followed by moments of hope, here we are.

This year my gratitude feels different. It feels deeper and more meaningful.

I am thankful for the team that shows up with heart, even when things are hard. The people who bring loyalty, grit, creativity, and humor to our company with the silly name. I am truly grateful for this team!!

I am thankful for our clients who trust us to help tell their stories and engage their communities. We do not take that lightly. Your belief in us, especially in a season filled with change, means more than you know.

I am thankful for my family, who is my why. The kids, the grandbabies, my husband who cooks for everyone, the chaos of our puppy, Homer, the laughter around the dinner table, and all the reminders that life is short and precious and worth showing up for.

I am thankful for growth. The uncomfortable kind. The kind that keeps you up at night and forces you to become a stronger, wiser, better version of yourself. It has stretched me this year, but I am still here and I am proud of that.

And I am thankful for this community. The people who support Chickenango, cheer for us, believe in us, and follow along on this wild ride.

From my heart to yours, Happy Thanksgiving. May your day be filled with good food, warm company, and reminders of the blessings right in front of you, even the messy and imperfect ones.

With so much gratitude,
Jennifer
