Spent the day trading desks for dusty boots! We got to see the newest arrivals, a pasture full of wobbly-legged baby calves, curious noses, and proud mama cows. Nothing like a field trip to remind you where good work, good food, and a lot of patience begin. Thanks Rosman crew for letting us come celebrate spring with you for the afternoon!

Did you know that potatoes have more potassium than a banana?! We love serving the potato farmers of Washington through our work with the Washington State Potato Commission. Their dedication to growing a sustainable, nutritious, and delicious staple for tables everywhere never goes unnoticed—and we’re proud to play a small part in their big impact.

Sustainability starts in the field.
Washington potato farmers are committed to responsible water use, healthy soils, and long-term stewardship of the land—because farming isn’t just about today’s harvest, it’s about tomorrow’s future.

That’s the Washington potato way. 💚

Washington has five active volcanoes: Mount Baker, Glacier Peak, Mount Rainier, Mount St. Helens, and Mount Adams. These stratovolcanoes are part of the Cascade Range and formed by tectonic plate movement along the Pacific Northwest. Scientists closely monitor them because future eruptions are possible. So yes, the mountains are beautiful, but they’re also very much alive!

Wheat Life and the Washington wheat industry has been one of our favorite partners since KR began. In fact, the Washington Wheat Foundation was our first client! Cheers to another trip around the sun team !

January's Wheat Life is now available online. In this issue we talked to the leaders of the state's Ag Committees about their goals for the 2026 legislative session, looked back over 10 years of Ecology's Ag and Water Quality Committee, and admired the new tram mural in Waterville.https://wheatlife.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/01_WLJan26web.pdf

Fun winter fact! Ice still writes its story across Washington’s peaks. The state holds more glaciers than any other in the Lower 48, and Mount Rainier carries about 25 of them on its shoulders...slow, ancient, and enduring. ❄️

As we head into the holiday week, gratitude feels like the right place to land. Gratitude for Washington’s landscapes and waters, for the people who live and work here, and for the shared commitment to this place we call home. Politics may shift, but the connection to this land—and to one another—endures. Opportunity is what brought my ancestors here, and it’s why we continue to choose to stay. Wishing you a Merry Christmas and time well spent with those you love!

A reflective essay on the unique natural and cultural landscape of Washington State, highlighting its agricultural richness, historical roots, and the strength found in diversity and community.
