My name is Jamie Schmalenberger and I am the Owner and Artist behind Briar Rose Expressions. I truly appreciate your support of my small business and I thank you for taking the time to peruse my online shop and to get to know me a little bit. I've always had a creative flair and a knack for design. Throughout my life, I've always sought an outlet for my creativity, whether I was crafting handmade
gifts for family and friends, doodling fashion designs in my sketchbook, taking an art class, painting a canvas, or simply coloring in a coloring book. In 2006, I graduated from the University of Delaware with a B.S. in Material Culture and Visual Style and a Concentration in American Material Cultural Studies. I always say that, based on my diverse coursework, it prepared me for a career in which I could work effectively with people in a creative environment. After graduation I moved with my now-husband-then-boyfriend to Florida and went back to school to get my teaching degree. We moved to Melbourne, FL in 2007, got married in 2009, and had our first child in April 2011. At that point, I excitedly became a Stay-at-Home Mom and decided to turn my creative hobbies into a little business. I began JaJaJu Creations in July 2011. JaJaJu Creations originally focused on hand-painted wood crafts such as picture frames, plaques, and name letters. However, after designing my own baby shower invitations and birth announcements, I continued to teach myself graphic design. Therefore, JaJaJu Creations evolved into Uniquely J Designs and I switched my focus to graphic design in invitations, announcements, party decor, art prints, and business graphics. Exactly 5 years into my little business, I was thrown a curve-ball when my Etsy shop closed unexpectedly in July 2016. However, I used this opportunity to re-brand and start anew and this is when Uniquely J Designs became what we all know it as today, Briar Rose Expressions. Just as I continue to grow as an individual, I continue to grow in my business. My main goal with Briar Rose Expressions is to create unique and fun graphic design that I feel good about and that my customers will love. I strive to keep my prices competitive while ensuring that they are affordable for all. I enjoy receiving custom orders, as it inspires me to create from someone else's vision, which is a fun challenge! Briar Rose Expressions specializes in custom-created, fun, and unique graphic design for the individual to the small business, including: invitations, announcements, party decor, thank you cards, logo design, business cards, art prints, & more!
