During Juneteenth weekend, we want to highlight and celebrate Memphis's long, impactful history.

On Wednesday, June 17th, we were joined by Raven Cansler, (Raven Cansler - Realtor 🏡), and Jennifer Prudhomme Booker, (We Are Memphis | Experience Memphis Soul), on "A Tour Of Possibilities" led by Mrs. Carolyn Banks. Our stops included Slave Haven, Cotton Row, Black Seed Garden, Beale Street, I Am A Man Plaza, Mason Temple, and so much more.

When real food is scarce, what do we do?

The Rich Family saw this problem and found a solution.

In a Memphis food desert with no access to a supermarket by vehicle, they created a community garden: Black Seed Urban Farms. Not only do they grow food for the neighborhood. The Rich family has also created a true community space where they teach people how to grow and cultivate their own crops, host public and private events, bringing people together.

Black Seed Urban Farms is more than a garden; it is a place of unity.
