What Is AI, Really?
To be honest… I’m not sure anyone fully knows the answer to that right now. Artificial Intelligence is evolving at an absolutely staggering pace. But when clients ask me what I think about AI, my answer is relatively simple—for now.
Most of us are familiar with Google. We use it daily, treating it like an all-knowing search engine that serves up a buffet of links based on our questions. We click, scan, reword our query, click again—hoping one of those links will finally lead us to what we’re really looking for. It’s a functional way to do research, but not always efficient.
Now, here’s how I’d describe the difference between a Google search and AI:
Google is like asking a librarian where to find something and being pointed to a shelf.
AI is like sitting down with the librarian and having a real-time, back-and-forth conversation as they guide you, step-by-step, toward your answer.
Instead of just giving you links, AI processes context, refines your question, and adapts as you go. Ask it the right way, and the responses can be shockingly accurate—and weirdly human. It’s as if you’re speaking with a well-read, slightly caffeinated super-brain that doesn’t sleep.
So give it a whirl. Ask a few questions. Tinker with your prompts. Have fun.
Just… maybe don’t ask it if it’s self-aware yet. I’ve seen Terminator. You’ve seen Terminator. Let’s not poke the robot.
