What's really setting recycling plants on fire? 🔥🔋

Batteries. UK waste and recycling sites logged 1,518 fires in the year to March 2026. Battery fires make up 40% of reported recycling centre fires (industry estimates go as high as 70%), and they cost the UK economy more than £1 billion a year.

The same batteries are probably sitting in your junk drawer right now. Please don't trash them.
✅ Dead alkalines (AA, AAA, C, D, 9V) go in a ResQ drop-off BIN

🔥 Two garbage trucks caught fire in the Spokane area on the same afternoon (Thursday, Oct 15).

The city hasn't said what caused these two fires, but it says most garbage truck fires are started by lithium-ion batteries. And each of those trucks costs about $500,000 to replace.

Batteries don't belong in the trash. Here's how to recycle them with us:

Swapping a semi-truck battery in about 5 minutes? CATL says yes. 🔋

The world's largest EV battery maker just unveiled new battery tech for heavy trucks in Beijing.

Its swap stations can change a truck battery in about 5 minutes.
CATL plans 900 heavy-truck swap stations by the end of 2026 and 2,000 by 2027.
More batteries in service means a lot more batteries that need responsible end-of-life handling down the road.

That starts at home too: drop your single-use alkalines at a ResQ drop-off BIN and bring lithium to a monthly ResQ Booth.

Would you trust a 5-minute battery swap over a charger for big rigs? 👇
