Reflect. One of the most life giving spiritual practices I’ve embraced of the last few years. The only problem is that there isn’t a lot of margin for quiet reflection in my every day... if any. Which is why I’ve been setting aside some time in my Sabbath for it.. & my journal guides me through it like nothing else.

Sometimes we just don’t have the bandwidth to dig in on our own.. (im there right now) it’s been such a blessing to be able to simply crack open my Finding Sabbath journal & it does the work for me so I can just do the reflecting, praying, feeling, and recording. 🙌🏻

I’m in Utah! One of my first outings was to peep my Finding Sabbath journal on shelves in & I found her! Sitting next to so many people I’ve gained spiritual wisdom from my whole life which is as surreal as you can imagine it is. I’ve been a weepy mess the past month, after snapping this my mask came in handy to hide the familiar oncoming thankful tears! My little journal next to book has me especially moved. He sat in my moms living room & gave my brother a blessing a few years ago.. giving us promises we’re still holding onto today. Full heart over here!

Thank you for sticking with me for so many years. Through the typos & highs & lows & soul bearing & laughing & all of it in between. This little corner of the internet has been a light in my days. I’ve learned so much about community, sisterhood, God, myself, and how everything is better when love leads the way.

Early 2017 (I think) I was perused by the Spirit to make a wide margin Book of Mormon. I was inspired by a friends I’d seen, and while at the time was questioning all things faith, felt drawn to them in this way. I tried hard to put the spirit off. I’m so thankful He didn’t give up on me.

I am forever thankful for these used up pages of my wide margin Book of Mormon. It altered the course of my life, softened my heart, tethered me to Jesus & continues to do all that and more. I will shout it from whatever internet rooftops I’m allowed to stand on: THE BOOK OF MORMON IS ANOTHER TESTAMENT OF JESUS CHRIST! It will change your heart! If you haven’t read it ever, or in awhile, or in a day, DO IT TODAY. Start it TODAY.

I have a solemn witness & everlasting testimony that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, that He loves you & wants you to feel it every day through His word. Find the time. Find whatever you need to get in Gods word today. At all costs. & watch the miracles unfold in & around you. 💛

I’ve always been drawn to the power of words, of putting them together in ways that explain the mess inside my heart & mind. I’ve always found therapy in them. Solace. Expression. Strength. Truth.

Jesus Christ was my favorite with words. He wasn’t fancy with them. He spoke directly & with power. Imagine being Jairus as he went with you to your weeping home kneeling over your tiny daughter as he spoke one word- altering the course of everything that mattered: ARISE.

God is good. Jesus lives. YOU ARE LOVED. 💛

Gratitude doesn’t solve our problems, but it can soothe the ache, soften the edges, and sustain our weary hearts. (Thoughts after message today. GO WATCH!!)

When I started my thank you wall of happy photos around the giant chalkboard I felt the magic of gratitude every day. I was reminded of the goodness of God in our lives through each photo. I keep adding to it. Snapshots of Gods hand in my days.

We are joining the rest of the world & counting our blessings big & small this month using the flooding every corner of the internet with witnesses of Gods love & miracles & goodness. He’s very much with us & He very much loves YOU. 💛

I keep wanting to have the perfect uplifting words to offer you. I want them to shake you awake to the truth about who you are & who God is & what is available to us if we just keep it simple & consistent. There is SO MUCH PEACE & LIGHT when we choose YES to God, no matter what. When we DIG IN & uncover what we deeply know to our core. When we keep showing up in His word, at His sacrament table, with His love leading the way. When we raise our voices and open our hearts in an ANTHEM of YES... there is no distance we can’t go in our unreasonable faith. There is not a day we can’t get through. There is not an unimaginable circumstance we cannot praise His name in.

Anyways. Here’s what I know. It’s what grounds me and tethers me to light when the dark is ever looming.

What do you know? Write them down. Hold them tight. And never ever ever ever surrender them.

If nothing else comes of 2020, may it be the year we cross all boundaries & lines & parties & camps & save as many kids as we can. One by one.

That’s what Christ did. He ministered to the ONE. And then the next one. And the next & He continues to do so today in my heart and yours and each of us individually.

Anyone else opening their phone every morning as soon as they open their eyes to the blaring noise of.... a lot?

Yeah. Me too.

No WONDER fear has been the single loudest emotion, thought, & feeling the last 6 days.
__
No more. NO MORE SHOWING UP EMPTY, AFRAID, & THIRSTY.
__
We want to armor our kids before they (used) to walk out the door with the ARMOR of GOD, to protect them, guide them, & help them fight on in faith, right??
__
Well, It’s time to ARMOR OURSELVES just the same.
__
I keep showing up to whatever the news or world wants to fill my heart with, on empty. I’m thirsty for something to guide me & the world will gladly fill that void. But I know better.
__
& so now. We DO better.
__
LIVING WATERS FIRST. ARMOR of GOD FIRST. Unreasonable FAITH & PEACE FIRST.
__
& then news. & then world. & then everything else.
__
Will that change what is? Will it alter circumstances? Will it switch scenery? No. Probably not. BUT! Will it chase out fear?! Will it welcome peace?! Will it make room for wise & faithful decisions?! YES. YES. & YES.
__
We can do this. We can choose yes to the DISCIPLINE required in DISCIPLESHIP.
__
Armor of God first, no matter what.

Found this tucked into the corner cushion of the couch this morning. My oldest is my biggest cheerleader. I cried as I picked up her own (after she insisted!) signed copy with her homemade book mark tucked inside.

This. This is why I wrote these words. I want my children to know without a doubt that their mother KNEW. That beyond plain sight, she knew a God who rebuilds ruins. Who through hell or high water LOVES & COMFORTS & SEES. A God and Jesus who carry & lift & redeem. Please children, lean on these words & witness when you wander & wonder & fear.
