Letting go isn’t losing. It’s how we replenish — returning to our roots before we rise again.
On my recent trip to Japan, I was struck by this quote. It got me to reflect. Trees don’t cling to their leaves when the season shifts — they release them, trusting that renewal will come.
Leadership, in many ways, asks the same of us.
To shed what no longer serves — habits, roles, even beliefs — so that we can grow stronger, clearer, and more grounded.
Here’s what I’ve learned through these seasons of letting go:
▪︎ Releasing creates space. Growth can’t happen where old energy lingers.
▪︎ Roots sustain us. Values, purpose, and integrity keep us steady when everything else changes.
▪︎ Stillness restores. Reflection replenishes what constant motion depletes.
▪︎ Change is a teacher. It reveals what’s essential — and what’s ready to evolve.
▪︎ Renewal takes courage. Sometimes the bravest act is to stop striving and start trusting.
We don’t grow by holding tighter — we grow by letting go, replenishing, and returning to what grounds us.
PS: Thoughts on this?
