Join Orchestra Miami as we explore one of the great symphonic poems of all time, Scheherazade by Rimsky-Korsakov. One of the most beloved symphonic poems ever written, Scheherazade tells the story of the legendary Persian queen and storyteller who saves her life and the lives of countless others, by telling King Shahryar a captivating, cliffhanger story each night for 1,001 nights, eventually winning his love and ending his murderous spree.

The BUFFALO PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA returns with their beloved Music Director of more than 25 years, JoAnn Falletta. Violinist Simone Porter is one of the youngest recipients of an Avery Fisher Career Grant and a leading artist of her generation. She will join the Orchestra for a performance of Bruch’s gorgeous Scottish Fantasy and Maestra Falletta will lead Brahms’ First Symphony.

On March 8, the Miami Symphony Orchestra presents American Promise at the Knight Concert Hall, a program inspired by the compelling work of composer Karen LeFrak and presented in celebration of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Led by Maestro Eduardo Marturet, the concert reflects on the ideals of freedom, unity and aspiration that have shaped the American story, expressed through a powerful dialogue between contemporary compositions and symphonic masterworks.

Having already performed as soloist with the Houston Symphony and the Boston Pops, cellist Alexander Hersh has quickly established himself as one of the most exciting and creative talents of his generation. He has received top prizes at competitions worldwide including the: 2022 Pro Musicis International Award, Astral Artists National Auditions, Salon de Virtuosi Career grant, National Federation of MusicClubs Biennial Young Artists Competition, New York International Artists Association Competition, Friends of the Minnesota Orchestra, Ima Hogg, Schadt, Luminarts, Hellam, and the BostonPops/New England Conservatory Competitions.

A passionate chamber musician, Hersh has performed at music festivals worldwide including Marlboro, Caramoor, Ravinia Steans Music Institute, Music@Menlo, I-M-S PrussiaCove, Perlman Music Program Chamber Music Workshop, Amsterdam Cello Biennial, Kneisel Hall, Lucerne, and the New York String Orchestra Seminar. He serves as co-Artistic Director of NEXUS Chamber Music, an artist driven collective of musicians whose mission is to make classical music culturally relevant through live concerts and multimedia content.

Hailed for his “palpable musical instinct and intelligence” (Catanduanes Tribune) and for “producing a distinct sound” (Charles Castleman), Adrian Nicolas Ong had his orchestral debut at the age of 17 with the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Yoshikazu Fukumura, performing Saint- Saëns’ Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso. In 2019 he performed Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto with the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Gerard Salonga. He has also collaborated with the Manila Symphony and Manila Symphony Junior orchestras, among others.

New York’s Grammy Award®-winning Orpheus Chamber Orchestra returns to the Kravis Center, joining forces with pianist Marc-André Hamelin, who has been called “a performer of near-superhuman technical prowess.” Their program will feature Mozart’s early Piano Concerto No. 12, a new commission by Orpheus, and the Chamber Symphony in B-flat Major orchestrated after Schubert’s D. 960.
