“Your story has many authors.”
This week, our Co-Founder, Chairman & CEO, Jorge A. Plasencia, received an honorary degree from New Jersey City University in recognition of his leadership, service and contributions, and delivered an inspiring commencement address to the Class of 2026 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
His message to graduates was one that resonates far beyond the stage: work hard, stay humble, give back, and never shrink who you are to fit someone else’s idea of success.
“Bring your name, your culture, your faith, your rhythm and your dreams into every room you enter. The world needs the grandest version of you.”
The honor carried special meaning in a milestone year, as Republica Havas celebrates its 20th anniversary and Amigos For Kids marks 35 years of impact. Rooted in gratitude, culture, purpose and legacy, Jorge honored the legacy of his late parents and offered a powerful reminder of a belief he has carried through both organizations: that the lives we touch and the doors we open for others are often our greatest measure of success.
NJCU President Andrés Acebo bestowed upon him the Doctor of Humane Letters degree.
Congratulations to Dr. Plasencia and to the NJCU Class of 2026! 🎓
