Bringing greater humanity, context and clarity to the national conversation around debt earned National Debt Relief both an Award of Excellence and Bronze Anvil recognition from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).

For National Debt Relief, the recognition reflects work designed to challenge the stigma around debt and elevate a more nuanced understanding of the financial pressures facing millions of Americans.

In partnership with rbb Communications, the campaign was built on original research focused on parents and older adults, two groups heavily impacted by debt. Those insights became the foundation for a national journalism campaign that paired credible data with storytelling at a moment of real economic urgency.

rbb Vice President John Thompson and National Debt Relief Senior Communications Manager Renee Oehlerking were on hand to accept the awards, marking a meaningful recognition for work that helped bring a more compassionate and informed debt conversation to a national audience.

More and more people are discovering brands through answers generated by AI platforms like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Claude. Is your brand appearing in those results? And do you know how to influence that outcome?

In a new blog, John Thompson, Vice President and AI/GEO thought leader at rbb Communications, explores the growing role of Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) in public relations. GEO focuses on influencing how large language models (LLMs) surface companies, products, and expertise when users ask questions. That visibility is shaped by credible media coverage and educational content across channels and refined through continuous measurement of how your brand appears to feed further optimizations.

If you want a clearer understanding of what GEO is, why journalism plays a critical role, and how brands can begin measuring their visibility across generative platforms, read the full blog: https://brnw.ch/21x2HHQ

Marketing activity is not the same as marketing effectiveness.

Many law firms are doing all the right things on paper. But without a clear view of performance, it’s impossible to know what is actually driving growth and what is simply creating noise.

That is where a marketing audit becomes essential.

A true audit goes beyond surface-level metrics. It evaluates the full ecosystem: brand positioning, website performance, search visibility, content strategy, media presence, CRM alignment, and competitive standing. Then it turns those insights into a focused actionable plan.

Because perception is formed long before the first conversation. And if your presence is inconsistent or outdated, you are losing ground before you ever get a seat at the table.

In his new Law.com article, rbb Communications SVP and Partner Josh Merkin breaks down why now is the moment for law firms to take a harder look at what is working, what is not, and where real marketing impact is being left on the table.

The best rebrands aren’t just seen. They’re remembered.

For a cultural icon like the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, a new brand identity needs to do more than look good. It needs to connect with audiences, reflect the institution’s energy, and leave a lasting impression.

That is exactly what our work was designed to do.

And based on community survey results, the rebrand drove 38% logo recall within just four months of launch, showing how branding can go beyond a visual refresh to build recognition.

How do you turn your AI pilot into a scalable business result?

Many AI pilots stall because they are built around testing a tool, rather than solving a business problem. Christine Barney, CEO of rbb Communications, explores the elements needed for success in her latest Forbes Agency Council article.

Before an AI pilot can scale, the team needs to answer some specific questions, such as:

• Who is your internal champion, and do you have alignment from those who can cause roadblocks (e.g. Legal, HR, IT?)
• What are we trying to make faster, easier, or more effective?
• Is the current process working, or are we just speeding up a broken one?
• Is the right data available to the right people?
• Are you communicating to all parties in a way that encourages their participation and support?

Scaling AI takes more than selecting the right tool. It requires the right problem, the right internal champions, the right data, and the right communication to help teams understand why the change matters and how it will improve the way they work.
