Sam Altman got fired on a Friday.

By Monday he was back. The board was gone.

700 employees threatened to quit. Microsoft applied pressure. OpenAI's credibility collapsed in real time.

Not because the technology changed. Because the face changed.

Every congressional hearing was Sam. Every AI safety debate was Sam. Every magazine cover about
OpenAI had Sam's face on it.

He wasn't just the CEO. He was the credibility infrastructure.

When the board removed him they didn't remove a executive. They removed the reason people trusted the company.

The market didn't trust OpenAI. It trusted Sam.

That's founder authority in its purest form. And when you have it, even your own board can't take it away.

If you're invisible, you're replaceable.

Replaceable founders don't survive board removals.

I failed at raising VC money for my venture studio.

Had offers on the table. Walked away.

Because the only deal available was the worst deal possible. Agencies don't carry software multiples.

You can't scale a service business like a SaaS product. The math doesn't work for VCs.

So I moved on.

Fast forward to today. Y Combinator, the top accelerator in the world, is now putting money into agencies.

Because they figured out what I figured out a year ago.

AI processes give you software margins at agency price points.

We use Lovable for presentations. Claude to research. Claude Code to build custom internal software instead of paying hundreds a month for SaaS tools.

The agency model isn't dead. The old agency model is.

If you don't figure out how to implement AI into your business, someone who did will take your clients.

There has never been a worse excuse not to start.

Build a website in an afternoon. Accept payments with Stripe. Market for free on Instagram. Use ChatGPT as your first hire.

The infrastructure that used to cost millions is basically free now.

People are turning passions into real businesses while everyone else is still saying "maybe next year."

The tools are here. The opportunity is here.

The only thing missing is the decision to actually start.

Stop waiting for the perfect moment. It already passed. This is it.

Nobody watches TV anymore.

The Oscars just admitted it.

50 years on network television and they're moving to YouTube because that's where the eyeballs are.

Instagram launched on Fire TV. Podcasts are on Netflix.

Traditional media isn't declining. It's surrendering.

And here's what that means for you:

Getting on ABC required producers, connections, and money. Getting on YouTube requires a phone.

The platform the Oscars just moved to is the same one you can post on today for free.

The gap between you and the biggest stage in media has never been smaller.

Start the podcast. Post the video. Show up.

Elon Musk is so serious about personal brand strategy he bought a whole company for $44 billion.

Not a social media company.

A distribution monopoly.

Because in 2026 the most expensive risk any business carries is depending on someone else's algorithm to reach their customers.

Tesla runs no traditional ads. SpaceX runs no traditional ads. Elon is the customer acquisition engine.

He doesn't need to go viral. He is the algorithm.

Most people can't buy their distribution for $44 billion.

But you can build it for free.

Post your own content. Build your own email list. Show up on multiple platforms consistently.

If you don't own your distribution, you're paying a faceless tax every single day. And your competitors are using that money to bury you.

Own your audience before someone else's algorithm decides you don't deserve one.

Harley Finkelstein is not the CEO of Shopify.

You'd never know that from his Instagram.

42 posts last month. Stock at an all-time high.

People see the DJ sets. They see the lifestyle. They miss what he's actually building.

Most companies at that scale buy their way to attention. Harley earns it.

A $100M ad budget is a drug. The second you stop paying, the reach dies.

What he built instead is a direct trust line between Shopify and every founder who might build their business on it. No PR filter. No media buy. No algorithm tax.

Just a face people recognize and a voice people believe.

That compounds. Ads don't.

Hiding behind a logo in 2026 is a competitive disadvantage. Your personal brand is the cheapest, highest-converting acquisition channel you're not using.

Comment "Shopify" and we'll show you how to build it.

Andreessen Horowitz is the top VC firm in the world.

They fund every major AI company.

They could generate any content they want in seconds.

Instead, they built physical studios. Hired podcast producers. Set up real cameras. And sat down to have real conversations with real people.

That's not a content strategy. That's a signal.

In the age of AI, everything can be faked. And the second you get caught faking it, you're done.

Nobody trusts you again.

A16Z is running in the opposite direction from everyone else. Toward authenticity. Toward physical presence. Toward human conversations that no model can replicate.

The people who control where all the money goes just told you exactly where trust is going.

If you're still running toward AI-generated everything, you are missing the most important industry shift happening right now.
