Super long day yesterday! I’ll say Vivids VP INC summed this up well!!! It was definitely refreshing to learn about all the amazing things that Dover Police Department-Delaware is doing for the community!! Major shoutout to the chief for the enlightenment and amazing insight of what DPD really is doing for the community.
What a day yesterday!
It was full of challenges—but also full of incredible people. The Dover Police Department-Delaware, along with their Chief and dedicated team, showed us a level of passion and commitment to community safety that honestly, neither Terrance Btn Neal nor I fully realized—and we’re pretty sure most of the community doesn’t either. And that’s a shame.
I know posts like this can sometimes feel performative or overly polished—but no BS. I mean every word.
Hearing their “why”—and learning about the “how”—was powerful. From their Behavioral Health Unit’s modern, empathetic approach to mental health and substance-related calls, to the broader innovations in their community engagement strategies, it’s clear they’re doing something different. Something better.
“Cuffs aren’t always the answer”—I heard that more than once, and it stuck with me.
They’re prioritizing proactive solutions, building trust, and creating real two-way communication with the community. It’s policing through a modern lens—with heart, intention, and impact.
Major respect to the Chief, Detectives, Patrol Officers, the BHU team, SROs—and, as the Chief made sure to emphasize, the dozens of non-sworn staff who bring just as much integrity, value, and dedication to the mission.
Kyle Shaffer—couldn’t help but think of you. The timing felt poetic, right on the heels of your@RALLY For Our First Responders and the video we helped produce. Your passion is contagious, and yesterday only amplified that.
Salute.🫡
