Skyler Graphix is also home to a mini-chicken ranch (a mini-ranch with mini-chickens). We have 16 White Silkie hens that work hard to earn their keep every day. So, we wanted to share our bounty with our neighbors and friends. We have this little "egg hut" beside the road. If you or someone you know needs fresh eggs, come and help yourself. If you want to donate a couple bucks to help feed our girls, that would be great....BUT if you or someone you know is going through a little bit of a struggle, just take some eggs and pay it forward when you can. We are on Skyview Ranch Road (TR 319), exactly one mile north of SR 39.
Silkie eggs are small, but they pack a punch. They have a higher protein content than eggs from other breeds. Our UPS driver claims they give him tons of energy.
And, we collect twice a day. Farm fresh eggs still have the "bloom" on them - an invisible protective layer that keeps the eggs from spoiling. With the bloom on the eggs, farm fresh eggs can be kept in room temperature for up to 3 weeks without spoiling, and in the refrigerator for up to 3 months - and still be good.
