May flowers aren’t the only things in bloom, we’ve got new projects growing too. 🌸One we’re especially excited about: the Charlotte Youth Violence Prevention Campaign.

This initiative empowers middle and high school students to choose peace and avoid violence by putting their voices at the center. Through a selection of youth ambassadors, we’re partnering directly with young people to shape the look, tone, and messaging of the campaign so it truly resonates with their peers.

We’re proud to continue collaborating with the youth board and can’t wait to see what we build together.

Great things happen when teams collaborate early.

CMRignite’s Art Director, Chaji, highlights the importance of early collaboration to ensure user-centered design goals truly meet audience needs.

Early collaboration strengthens communication, reduces misunderstandings, clarifies
expectations, and creates more productive feedback loops.

The result is a more streamlined workflow and a cohesive audience experience. When teams align from the start, they are better equipped to create work that truly works.

Earlier this year, our UCD team transformed our website to align with evolving design trends taking inspiration from bold, modern aesthetics 👀🍎

Apple's iOS 26 update did the same, with a sleek, glassy "liquid" look." Safe to say, bold, modern UI is having a moment.

But here’s the real question: Did you wake up loving it… or hating it?

Great websites don’t happen by accident.

Behind every clean, intuitive experience are four key components working together seamlessly:
🔍 Research
📝 Content Strategy
🎨 Design
💻 Development

As CMRignite’s User-Centered Design Director, Jon, shares, when these elements are aligned through a user-centered approach, teams gain a shared understanding of their audience. The result? Digital experiences that truly support users in completing meaningful tasks.

When we talk about AI in health communications, we’re intentional about how it’s used.

One of the most valuable applications is testing creative concepts before launch—essentially stress-testing how different audiences might interpret messaging, tone, or visuals.

As Brittney Reid often emphasizes, AI should strengthen strategy, not replace human judgment. But it can flag areas where messaging might confuse, miss the mark, or be interpreted differently than intended. This early insight allows teams to refine messaging before investing heavily in production or media.

Used responsibly, AI helps us ask better questions sooner and create clearer, more audience- centered health communication.

Fear-based and overly technical messaging can undermine even the most important healthcampaigns.

When people feel overwhelmed, judged, or confused, they’re less likely to act. And jargon can create distance instead of building trust.

Effective health communication starts with understanding your audience, what they believe, what concerns them, and what actions feel realistic in their daily lives.

From there, messaging should empower, not intimidate.

Treating your audience as a monolith is one of the fastest ways to weaken a health campaign. Different groups perceive risk differently and face different barriers, so one message rarely resonates with everyone.

Take targeting by ZIP code. Data may describe an area, but the people within have diverse backgrounds, education levels, incomes, and lived experiences.

So, what’s the solution? While the core message may stay the same, how that message is delivered should vary. The language, tone, examples, and channels you use should reflect the specific audience you’re trying to reach.

Effective health communication meets people where they are.
