You asked for it, here it is! A step-by-step guide to planning a month of social media
Step 1
Brainstorming: Make a list of any & all the post ideas you can think of. And then make another list of photo & imagery ideas!
Step 2
Check the Calendar: Look at the month ahead and see if there are any relevant events or dates you want to post about. Including special promotions or holidays that are important to your business.
Step 3
Make a Commitment: Decide how often you want to post. Be realistic with your time and start with a small goal, knowing you can always up it! {Anywhere between 1-3 times a week is recommended} Also pick a few set days and times by researching when your audience is most likely to engage with your content.
Step 4
Plan your Imagery: If you don’t have photos or graphics to post, decide when/how you are going to get them. You can take a month’s worth of photos in a day, or spread it out and take them each week OR you can look at hiring someone local to help you out!
Step 5
Writing & Assigning: Once you have your photos & ideas, you can start a rough draft of captions for each post. Go back to it once later to edit it and add relevant hashtags for search results. Assign each post to a specific date, keeping in mind the special events you want to touch on and when that post would be most relevant. Now you have a content calendar!
Step 6
Scheduling: Find a post scheduling service, like Facebook Business Suite, Planoly, etc to schedule your content so you have your content automatically post at your preferred times {and not stress out about it in the moment}!
Wa-la! Now you have the beginnings of a monthly content planning process. Some things will work better for you than others - keep those in mind and adapt to what suits your needs so you can develop the best process for you!
