Eden Prairie authorities were seeking the public’s help in locating a missing autistic child: 11-year-old Mohammed Mohammed, last seen today around 5:45 p.m. near his residence on Cardiff Lane. Mohammed is a black male, around 4'6" and family members report he is non-verbal, last seen wearing only a diaper. The EPPD and EPFD mobilized search teams, K-9 units, drones and a State Patrol helicopter were used in the search for Mohammed, with residents in the area asked to check their properties and cameras.
UPDATE: Eden Prairie officials say a body matching the description of Mohamed was recovered from a pond nearby his residence around 9:30 p.m. Sunday. Search efforts have been discontinued and the Eden Prairie Police Department is conducting a joint investigation with Hennepin County Water Patrol and the Hennepin County Medical Examiner.
"We extend our deepest condolences to the friends and family of Mohamed during this incredibly difficult time. We would also like to thank everyone who participated in the search efforts," EPPD said in a statement.
