There is a time to stay quiet… and a time to shout from the rooftops. This is that time.
The amount of hate in this world is beyond heartbreaking. The recent mass shooting in Sydney is yet another horrific example of Jewish people simply gathering to celebrate — something every religion should be able to do freely, safely, and joyfully. Lighting a menorah with friends and family should never be an act of courage.
What I will never understand is hatred without cause… hate simply for existing.
And I will never condone it.
As a Jewish woman, a wife, a mother, a Jewish business owner — and above all, a human being — I refuse to stay silent. We must stand up. We must speak out. We must push back against this animalistic, senseless violence.
Education matters. Community matters. Light matters. And we cannot rely on social media to do the heavy lifting for us. We have to be the ones teaching, speaking, showing up, and refusing to let hate drown out who we are.
So we will continue.
We will gather.
We will celebrate.
We will shine our lights boldly and raise our voices proudly.
Happy Hanukkah to everyone who celebrates.
Light your candles. Hold your loved ones close.
And most importantly — never let anyone dim your light.
