INSIGHTS XL — March 25
Hassan Rahim

Join us Wednesday evening as Hassan Rahim closes the 40th anniversary season of Insights.

New York–based creative director Hassan Rahim describes his practice as “in opposition to culture’s obsession with speed.”

His work resists immediacy, incubating over time as he builds a body of work shaped by memory, mortality, and monomania.

Rahim is the founder of @1201.am, an anti-disciplinary creative studio operating across design, image-making, and cultural production. He has collaborated with clients including Netflix, Nike, Apple, Sony, Herman Miller, Adidas, Carhartt, and SSENSE, as well as filmmakers such as the Safdie brothers (Uncut Gems). His work also extends into music, creating album and single artwork for artists including Lorde (Solar Power, Melodrama) and Nine Inch Nails (Bad Witch).

Lecture in the Walker Cinema. Public reception to follow.

INSIGHTS XL — March 18
Michael Cina

Join us Wednesday evening as Michael Cina continues the 40th anniversary season of Insights.

Michael Cina is a multidisciplinary designer and artist based in the Twin Cities, working across branding, visual communication, custom type design, and contemporary art.

Cina Associates, the studio he founded in 2010, is the center of this practice, where experimentation and discipline converge in a visual language shaped by fine art, typography, branding, and design.

Over the past two decades, Cina has shaped identities for global clients, created hundreds of album covers for Ghostly International, and developed original typefaces through his foundry, Public Type. His design work has been nominated for a Grammy and won an Emmy.

His art practice explores internal worlds, texture, perception, and the quiet narratives that emerge through process. Across mediums, he is driven by curiosity and a commitment to making work that holds meaning over time.

✨ Solopreneurs is back! ✨

Join us this Thursday at noon for our first meetup of 2026.

We’re kicking off the year with a grounded, practical conversation around goals & intentions — for ourselves, our businesses, and our careers as solopreneurs and freelancers.

Come prepared (or semi-prepared 😌) to reflect on:
• What are you hoping to achieve this year?
• What plans do you have to get there?
• Where might you need support?

Your goal can be big or small (writing a new bio, refining your elevator pitch, setting better boundaries, etc...). We’ll put our heads together to help turn ideas into actionable next steps.

All creatives welcome. Free and open to everyone.

Join Solopreneurs this Thursday for our final meetup of the year — a relaxed virtual gathering designed to help you unwind, connect, and reflect as the year wraps up. ❄️ ☃️

December brings an open space to share what’s on your mind with fellow independent creatives. Exchange experiences from 2025 (the wins, the pivots, and the surprises...) in an unstructured, friendly atmosphere.

To add a little levity, we’re also collecting responses to a few creative prompts, such as:
• Tell me you’re a creative without telling me you’re a creative.
• Which design trend can fade into oblivion already?
• What would be your dream client or project?

Share your answers anonymously through our quick survey (link in bio). Answer as many or as few as you’d like! We’ll share some favorites during the meetup and compile them into a fun, end-of-year slidedeck.

Come as you are to catch up and close out the year with good company!

All creatives welcome. Free to everyone.

Big design dreams this summer?

Take the next step with Mind to Mind, AIGA Minnesota’s mentorship program for emerging designers and design students.

Over 10 weeks, you’ll be paired with an experienced creative professional to work toward a personal goal — whether that's building your portfolio, growing your confidence, or making new connections in the design world. Your mentor will be there to guide and support you along the way.

Here’s what past participants had to say:

“Yes, I would! It is a great opportunity to connect with the design community and meet peers who are in the same stage of life as you.”
- Jamie, 2024 Mentee

“It never feels like work, just a rare opportunity to connect deeply with a young designer.”
- Adam, 2024 Mentor

🗓️ Applications for the 2025 program are now open — apply by this Sunday, July 13!
