More clients, more industries, more consulting happening at the same time. Healthcare, food, corporate, internal comms. A lot of parallel work all moving at once.

Social is changing FAST. But that’s always been the case.

What we are seeing now is a ten year cycle reverting back to social as reputation management for brands. Engagement is low and followers even lower— but that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t be present, discoverable, and relevant for your people. The chasm between organic and paid is wider than ever and as such, we need to make sure we are employing a robust ecosystem that utilizes both strategically attuned to human behavior.

Why do it at all, you might ask? Because your competitors are, because people are still there en masse, and because when it’s done well, it’s transformative.

I know the brand marketing world LOVES paid social. It’s the shiny object. The one that promises a trillion impressions and a buffet of KPIs we can (mostly) report with a straight face to the boss.

But here’s the thing — there’s a quiet crisis happening in brand comms:
Organic is being neglected. And for larger brands with big followings, that’s a missed opportunity for real reach and authentic connection.

Think about what you do after being served an ad:
You Google the brand and check their Instagram feed. And if what you find is a ghost town of outdated posts — you’re out. Trust lost before the click ever happens.

In short: Paid gets attention. Organic builds credibility. Brands need both working in harmony.

This has been one of my favorite soapboxes since 2014. AMA.
