A set of martini glasses I made for a client. The original glasses are a mid-century set (1960’s) he inherited from his mother, but had only one left from the original bunch. So I recreated the image and sandasted an entirely new set of six. Also added a little bonus plaque that says (in authentic 1960’s font) “Life is grand with a martini in hand” with the same image as the glasses. 😊

Sandblasted the FinnStyle logo on several beautiful vases that were given to their employees as a holiday gift celebrating 20 years in business. Congrats on 20 years, Finnstyle! Check out their business, too! They sell really cool Finnish items for home decor.

Exciting news! Just signed the lease on a new workshop space in S Mpls! Excited to be able to work close to home! Had hoped to get a space large enough to be a workshop and showroom/studio like Kerry had, but I came across this space and couldn’t pass it up. It’s a stand alone garage building, with slat wall floor to ceiling, and outlets every 3 feet (at workbench height) all the way around. It’s perfect. It’s big enough to fit my equipment and all my tools and will be a great space to work in. Already started moving everything in.

Got the space just in time to be able to work on a couple exciting new projects we have in queue! One of them will be the biggest project I’ve personally done yet!

This is probably the most famous image of Kerry’s work. That is in his house at 128 Groveland in Minneapolis.

It was a glass strip that ran the length of his entire living room that lit up from the sides and beneath (he would adjust the lighting in the basement). It took him a long time to find eyes that didn’t “look creepy”.
It’s a remarkable piece of art. It’s like a giant looking thru the floor. It’s extraordinary in so many ways.

He wrote Dwell magazine and asked them if they ever give discounts on advertising to struggling artists and included a few photos of his work.
They replied by giving him a full-page color ad. For FREE.

A full page ad in one issue of Dwell is about $30,000.

He was that good.

We just finished a project for the City of Woodbury this past week. We sandblasted a 7’ medallion into cement in the center of the Veterans Memorial in front of City Hall to honor fallen soldiers in the line of duty. The beautiful memorial was designed by renowned Landscape Architect and Parks Planner, Joshua Kinney. It was completed just in time for Memorial Day Weekend and an event happening there later this morning for the unveiling. Over 5,000 people are expected to attend.

Blasted Art is back!

Our page has been silent the last many months as we’ve been going thru a major transition after the devastating loss of our founder, friend, and mentor, Kerry Dikken. We are back online, tho, and continuing with business by following Kerry’s example and everything he taught us. He will inspire us in everything we do and I hope wherever he is at that he would be proud.

Blasted Art just completed a 3 panel fritted and then sandblasted back lit glass panels for the donor wall of the arts complex at Macalester College.

Blasted Art has sandblasted wood panels for a high end retail store. I think this sandblasting turned out amazing!!
