UX (user experience) is part of any great SEO strategy. While SEO will get eyes on your site, the quality of your UX shapes what happens once they get there. While tactics between the two look a little different, the overlap is where the magic lies.

I just published a new blog post highlighting what it looks like to optimize for both on key website pages and elements across your site. If you’ve been focusing on one and not the other, my challenge to you is to take some time this week to improve even one page on your website.

All the traffic in the world cannot improve problems you may have on your contact page. At the very least it should have a simple form, and a bit about what to expect - like estimated response time, what happens next etc. If you have a physical location customers will visit, embed a map, add your address, hours, and maybe an image of your storefront. Also this should go without saying but make sure your contact info/next steps are easy to find!

One of the biggest friction points I see is a contact form (or any form in general) that either doesn’t work, or has way too many required fields. Take a fresh look at your form and remove any fields that aren’t truly necessary. For some, like product service selection, additional comments etc. that people might not necessarily know the answer to, consider leaving those fields off or at least don’t make them required.

If you’re not convinced that you’ll get better results by simplifying forms, test it out and let the numbers speak for themselves ✨

One of the very first things I notice about a website is the About page/info, or lack thereof. If it's not there, I'm immediately wondering what they are hiding. I would say this is especially important for service-based businesses, people want to know who they are dealing with.

It should include info about who you serve - visitors should be able to tell if you are right for them by visiting this page, what your company does/why you started it, easy to find contact info, and owner/team headshots and bios.

Fun fact: the About page is in the top 5-visited pages on 75% of websites I track - the exceptions are heavily driven by blogs, courses, or products. Check yours now because it could be the very first impression a potential client has of your company ✨

If you haven't heard, Google has dropped FAQ schema (structured data) support. Here are my takeaways and what this means for you:
- Keep your FAQ content, and continue to add it - as long as it is genuinely helpful
- Remove FAQ schema if you want, or leave it - at this stage I’m not sure it matters either way, UNLESS it could be seen as spammy
- Don’t worry about adding FAQ schema in the future simply for Google’s sake, but that doesn't mean not to add it if you have other reasons to do so

A couple questions to ask yourself to provide some clarity:
Is this content actually useful, and does it represent questions real people ask?
OR
Am I really reaching with FAQ content simply to have FAQ content?

Answer honestly and that should guide you to next steps - feel free to reach out if you have Questions (see what I did there?)

We heard it was national pet month - or maybe it was April? Either way, we wanted to say heyy! Meet Trevor, Stargazer SEO’s Chief Cozy Officer (CCO) who recently turned 3 :)

If you’ve been on a call with me then you’ve no doubt heard him barking at the school bus or crying for mama’s attention at least once.

Trevor likes to nap in the chairs behind me, under my feet, in my lap, basically anywhere but his bed. He voices his opinions during SEO discussions, and makes sure I get the maximum amount of puppy cuddles possible during working hours.

Outside of the office his favorite pastimes are keeping an eye on the neighborhood from the front stoop, enthusiastically saying hi to everyone that walks by, and showing off his parkour skills inside and outside.

Do you have a pet? We'd love to meet them!! 💜

I know that technical SEO is something that makes most people’s eyes glaze over, but it’s really hard to overstate its importance.

The question I get asked every single day is something along the lines of “Is SEO dead? Isn’t it all about AI now?” The short answer is no. Not only is AI usage still a drop in the bucket compared to traditional search, if you’re concerned about having more visibility in LLMs, you better have a solid SEO foundation to build on.

A successful long-term SEO strategy is largely made up of doing all the right small things, consistently over time. A lot of those things are technical elements like good site architecture, page indexing, ensuring mobile responsiveness and improving page speed. That’s why I created this new guide: Technical SEO Basics, so you know where to start and what to look for. Swipe through to learn more about what’s in it. Get yours and start improving your website today! ✨

Website architecture refers to the organization of your website and is the foundation everything is built on.

This is the first thing I look at in an audit, and is the first thing I notice when navigating any website.

Site architecture affects user experience as well as how easily (or not) search engines understand your website. When it's messy, visitors bounce and every other SEO effort becomes more difficult than it needs to be.

While this is a much broader topic than what can be covered in a social media post, three major facets you should plan your strategy around are site structure, URL structure, and navigation. ✨

I can’t believe this year’s WeMN’s conference was already a week ago! Something powerful happens when that many amazing women gather - I walked away feeling uplifted with so much great advice. My highlights:

- Even if you’re a chameleon, know when to peacock
- As an owner, add your salary as a line item
- Understand the state of your energy + brain (survival, emotional, executive) so you can give yourself what you actually need
- Have a process + sell with confidence

A group of us were commenting about how many thousands of dollars we’ve spent on conferences over the years, and how this one was one of the most valuable! In terms of the quality of speakers, to the location, to the whole vibe and all the little details, this was 12/10.

Thank you to the WeMN board members and volunteers that made this happen, to the keynotes and speakers who provided so much value, all of the sponsors, and attendees that made this event what it was. It was so great seeing friendly faces, and meeting new ones.

Anyway here’s another shameless plug to invite you to join me at WeMN this year 💜

Introducing the newest archetype in The Stargazer Arcana: The Luminary ✨

The Luminary might represent where you’re at if:
- You’ve built something amazing, but your website isn’t performing as well as it should
- You feel overwhelmed by the SEO advice you’ve heard, not sure of what or who to trust
- You’re wondering if SEO is “dead” and has been replaced by AI, and what you should do now
- You’ve been burned by an SEO pro before, either not understanding what they did or not getting good results
- You are tired of trying to figure it all out alone

The Luminary embodies spring’s energy - shedding what isn't working to make room for what matters the most. A custom strategy that works as hard as you do, and grows with you.

If you’re ready to attract the audience already searching for you, I would love to be the expert in your corner. Leave a comment, send a DM, or follow the link in bio to schedule some time to chat :)

(and if you attended the WeMN conference last week, you already got the first look)

Did you know your website could be live and functioning and yet be completely invisible in search?

It happens more than you might think. A common problem I come across in website audits is page indexing issues. Your pages exist, but they may have not been crawled or added to Google or Bing’s index for one reason or another. Fixes are usually simple but you have to know what you’re looking for.

The latest blog post walks through what page indexing is, how it works, common issues, where to view your indexed pages, and which pages should stay hidden from search engines. ✨
