We had a great time hosting our friends from MIMA - Minnesota Interactive Marketing Association and digging into some big topics around B2B demand gen. Here’s a quick recap of our discussion:

• Everything starts with the buyer. The more clearly you understand your audience, the more relevant and effective your demand efforts become.

• Business conditions will change. That’s a given. What matters is how thoughtfully you respond.

• Relevance is not something you set once and forget. It takes ongoing adjustment to keep programs aligned with what buyers need and what the business requires.

In honor of Women’s History Month, Sarah Day shares a story about what happens when women empower women.

“Like a close friend, a trusted colleague can support you over a lifetime. I’m so fortunate to have someone in my life who is both.

I’ve known Diane Fiderlein for decades. We met in the marketing department of what was then a division of ADP, and we’ve been weaving in and out of each other’s professional lives ever since.

We both specialize in B2B marketing — primarily research and positioning — and we’ve both run our own businesses. Through it all, I’ve learned that the best resource we have is each other. I’ve worked for Diane. She’s worked for me. And we’ve referred business back and forth throughout our careers.

What I love most about our relationship is the genuine trust, admiration and respect we have for one another. You’d think our similar skillsets would make us more competitive. But it’s never been like that. We lift each other up and want nothing more than to see each other succeed.

For me, Diane is so much more than a business colleague. She is a dear friend with whom I’ve shared holidays, travel, family life, and a serious passion for the men’s and women’s NCAA basketball tournaments.

Thank you, Diane, for being such a positive force all these years. And for being a great friend. I wouldn’t have wanted to do it without you.”

In honor of Women’s History Month, Sarah Waller tells us about the most influential woman in her career.

“No one has made a bigger impact than Angel Anderson. We met when I was a graphic designer at SUPERVALU and she was the Creative Lead.

What I love about Angel is her ‘let’s figure it out’ attitude. She believes anything is possible if you put your mind to it and would never toss out a good idea just because it’s hard.

Angel’s positivity taught me to trust my instincts and not give up — even if it meant working through challenges until 1 a.m. 😜

I also learned that solving problems is a lot more fun when you’re energized by the people around you. Great ideas happen when teams show up for each other and stand together. Angel made that apparent with every project we worked on.

I’m grateful for the lessons, the laughs, and the reminder that the best work rarely happens alone. While Angel and I have moved on from our creative roles, she will always be my friend, mentor, and favorite 80s party partner. (Wink wink.)

Shoutout to you, Angel. Thanks for everything you are.”
