At Open Book, we want creative work to truly serve people. That means helping our clients to feel uniquely seen and their story told in ways that connect what’s true to what’s possible. This week that includes time with the amazing students of the … including the state champion boys basketball team! (Look at that dunk! And BOTH boys and girls bball won state this year😲!) But it’s all of the athletes and artists and leaders and thinkers and visionaries at this special school that inspire us. It’s truly a joy to see them live out their unique vision…and we can’t wait for the special things ahead in helping invite people into their story. We’re celebrating this guy’s 5th Openversary. That means 5 years of Will Jacott bringing his whole self to the table (and with a Diet Coke hopefully at that table) in ways that make this team better.

That looks like:
- a steady presence of kindness and good will toward everyone;
- a still unsolved mystery of “Does Will have a dark side?” (No signs yet);
- creative work that is richer/deeper/better because of the soul Will brings to it;
- a deep well of belief and “we’ll get there” confidence that buoys people on hard days;
- ideas, art, design, and custom illustrations that solve problems, spark imagination, and bring joy;
- a true commitment to craftsmanship and high standards for the sake of our clients;
- more people on our team into birdwatching and watching movies on VHS because we want to be like Will.

It was a great joy to pay tribute to Will at our Monday Morning Meeting, with everyone sharing specific words of appreciation. That’s the ritual we do for every Openversary — but 5 years is an extra special milestone. So we raise our birdwatching binoculars on behalf of this special teammate and the stories we’re privileged to build together.

It’s a joy to serve our client partners—and sometimes clients go above-and-beyond to generously serve us. That’s what happened when Megan Porter from the amazing team at Tradition Capital Bank came by our office to serve us a “bubbling brie” (fresh out of our office oven) and full-tilt spread of cheeses, fruits, crackers, nuts, and joy. The gift wasn’t just the amazing food; it was the opportunity to connect across a table and share in conversation, stories, and nourishment (in every sense of the word).

*Generosity* is core to the story and vision of Tradition. That isn’t just a word to them; it’s a posture embedded in how they bank...and how they bring you brie. We’re so grateful to receive that story of generosity and also help them tell it.

This isn’t an ad; this is a grateful mirror held up to people living their vision at the same time they invite people into it. Let’s all celebrate that. Let’s all *be* that.

Two of our team enjoyed being part of the Women, Work & Calling national event in Denver on November 7, hosted by . Our founder shared reflections on her leadership journey and sense of calling to found , and one of our managers Caity Graves facilitated conversations with women from around the country on the stories they’re living and leading. It was a joy to join a national conversation with women who want to think deeply about how their faith shapes their work, and build community around the tensions they face and the hope that calls them forward. And we loved sharing with everyone there about a vision for possibility and authentic connection that continues to drive our work at Open Book!

Actuarial services might not be the most familiar topic—but it’s an industry that shapes important decisions about employee benefit plans that affect the livelihood of millions of people and families. For our amazing client Athena Actuarial Consulting, that’s a place where courage can shine.

Athena’s name—and the core story we built for them—takes inspiration from the goddess Athena, who was known for instilling courage in those she defended. We built the brand using a bold color palette and illustrative linework to capture the magic of a team where deep technical expertise is paired with holistic human understanding.
