As we were returning to work after the pandemic in 2021, KC Truth, like many others, started to think differently about what we do, who we are and where we could improve. We have always stood by the fact that we are only as good as our people, and our people wanted to extend outside the KC walls and give back to the community. Thus, our Annual Volunteer Policy was born.
The goal of our program is to create community engagement opportunities for KC Truth employees that are meaningful, purposeful and helps those in need. At the same time, we recognize that participating in these activities would also enrich and inspire the lives of our employees.
This year our newest Media Coordinator Adalí Flores-Mendoza helped plan and organize our volunteer outing with the Minneapolis Parks and Rec. where we helped plant and landscape at the Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden and Bird Sanctuary.
Here's what she had to say about the day:
"Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board was a great organization to volunteer with. They offered group volunteer opportunities and afternoon time slots. My favorite part was getting my hands dirty and being able to finish planting the area as an agency. Luckily, it was a beautiful fall day which only made the experience better."
