How does a tuck-end carton run on a filling line? 📦
Flat cartons are fed into the machine, popped open, filled with product, then sealed with top and bottom tuck flaps for a secure, efficient finish.

Tuck-end cartons are ideal for high-speed packaging lines, retail-ready presentation, and lightweight product protection.

👉 They’re NOT the same.

Colors drift from:

The fix?
Do a drawdown on the actual material BEFORE you print. 🎯
That’s how you get true color consistency every run.

What is the Walmart RFID initiative?

Walmart is asking brands to place RFID labels on their packaging at the item level to create highly accurate inventory visibility across stores and online. The result is better on-shelf availability, fewer stockouts, and a stronger customer experience.

And it’s not just Walmart. Many other major retailers are rolling out similar RFID programs, making this a growing requirement for CPG brands.

In this video, we explain:• What RFID tagging is and how it works• Why Walmart’s RFID mandate matters• How Meyers helps solve challenging RFID applications

Meyers specializes in complex RFID applications, including solutions that meet Walmart requirements and Auburn University ARC testing and certification standards. In one example, we helped a brand with a water-based product develop a custom RFID construction that stayed readable and fully compliant.

If you’re preparing for Walmart RFID or broader retail compliance, this is essential.

What is the difference between 4 color process & spot color printing? 🎨

4 color process (CMYK) printing uses four inks, cyan, magenta, yellow, and black, to create a wide range of colors by blending them.

Spot color printing, uses premixed inks designed to match a specific color exactly. This is often done using Pantone (PMS) colors and is ideal for brand colors that need to stay consistent across every print run.

So when should you use each?

Use CMYK when:• You have complex designs with multiple colors or photos• You want a cost-effective option for high-volume printing• Exact color matching is less critical

Use spot color when:• Your brand requires precise color consistency• You are printing logos or simple designs with limited colors• You need specialty inks like metallics or fluorescents

Understanding CMYK vs. spot color is key for packaging design, label printing, and maintaining brand consistency across all printed materials.

What’s the environmental footprint of paper folding cartons vs. single-use plastic? 🌲📦♻️

Plastics often have a lower carbon footprint initially, but the larger issue is their broader environmental impact and what happens after use. Paper cartons may have higher carbon emissions initially, but they’re typically easier to recover and recycle, which can make a real difference over the full life cycle.
