Monday Marketing Moment: From my FB Group. Window Covering Retailers:

Let me clear up a myth: people aren’t price sensitive. They’re value sensitive. Big difference.
Dan Kennedy’s been preaching this forever, and he’s right—when someone says, “You’re too expensive,” what they’re really saying is, “You didn’t show me the value.” It’s not their wallet that’s the problem—it’s your positioning.
If your sales pitch sounds like every other “quality service at fair prices” clown out there, you’re boring. And boring doesn’t sell.
Want to kill price objections? Quit talking about the sticker number and start selling the story. Show them how your offer saves them time, money, headaches—or delivers something no one else can. Do that, and suddenly your “too expensive” offer looks like a bargain.
Here’s the truth: value beats price every day of the week and twice on Sunday. And if people are still choking on your price, it’s not because they’re cheap—it’s because you didn’t show them the value.
Raise your value, and watch the resistance vanish… kind of like a politician’s promise after Election Day.
It’s Monday. Time to step it up.

Keywords Matter. Buyer Intent Matters More.
Let’s clear something up: Google Ads isn’t about getting clicks. It’s about getting calls. And if you’re just loading up your campaign with a bunch of random keywords like “cheap blinds” or “window cleaner tips,” you’re not marketing—you’re donating to Google’s quarterly earnings.

Yes, keywords matter. But buyer intent? That’s where the gold is buried.

You see, Google’s not dumb. Creepy? Yes. Dumb? No. They know when someone is ready to hire. Google tracks user behavior across YouTube, Gmail, Maps, Credit Cards, Android, Locations, Chrome—you know, everything but your dreams (and they’re probably working on that too).

They know when:

A homeowner is shopping for shutters and just visited a competitor’s website.
Someone in your zip code searched “UV protection for baby room.”
A neighbor looked up “hard water stains on windows” and then checked the weather forecast.
You and I don’t get access to this data. But Google does—and it uses it to show your ad when someone is most likely to buy, not just browse.

This is why buyer intent should drive every decision in your Google Ads campaign. Let me break it down for each of you:

For Window Covering Retailers:
“Best blinds for the living room” might get traffic. But “plantation shutters installation San Clemente” is buyer intent. That searcher isn’t killing time—they’ve got their wallet out.

For Window Tint Contractors:
“Is car window tint legal in CA?” = curiosity.
“Home window tinting near me” = cash about to change hands.
See the difference? One is a blog reader. The other is a client.

For Window Cleaning Pros:
“Window cleaning tools” = hobbyist or a new guy trying to steal your job.
“Window washing service for realtors open Saturday” = hot lead.
Google knows the difference—and will serve the right ad if you’ve set things up properly.

Bottom line? Don’t just throw a dart at a keyword list and pray. Build your campaigns around what your buyer is thinking and feeling right before they search.

Google Ads isn’t just about being seen—it’s about showing up at the right moment with the right message. That’s why we obsess over buyer intent. That’s why we manage every account like it’s our own. And that’s why our clients don’t just get clicks… they get booked jobs.

The More You Market, The Less You Have To Sell.

Reverse Benchmarking: Because Mediocre Is the New Standard

Instead of drooling over everything your competition does right, try this: focus on what they suck at. Most window covering retailers are selling the same blinds, offering the same “free in-home estimates,” and bragging about their “amazing service” and “worry-free installation.” Yawn. Heard it all before.

But let’s get real—do they actually deliver on that? What if their install times are slower than dial-up, their installers are third-party randos, and they scribble your quote on a Walmart receipt pad? Oh, and they only sell one brand? Cute.

Here’s your move: highlight what they ignore. Offer faster installs, real team members, branded proposals, and actual product variety. And for the love of leads—if they use voicemail, just answer the phone. Boom. You’re already 100% better.

Find the holes in their game—and fill them.
