A big congratulations to this outstanding group of Mitchell High School students for successfully passing the hands-on portion of their SACA C101 Gold Certification exam!

This industry-recognized certification challenged students to demonstrate real-world skills in areas such as safety, basic electrical systems, pneumatics, HMI operation and maintenance troubleshooting, precision measurement with the use of tools including dial calipers, micrometers, and a machinist rule.

This course was also offered as a dual credit opportunity through Ivy Tech Community College, allowing students to earn valuable college credit while building hands-on technical skills that apply directly to today’s advanced manufacturing and Industry 4.0 environments.

We are proud of these students for continuing to challenge themselves, learn new skills, and grow both academically and professionally. Great job, everyone!

Today was the last day of school for seven of our eight members of CCI. 

It’s hard to put into words just how much this group has meant to me. We would not have been able to accomplish the things we did this year without their hard work, creativity, dedication, and willingness to take on real responsibility. From production work and customer service to design, problem-solving, and long hours completing orders, this team helped make this school year of operation something truly special. It is easy to forget that this class only meets three times a week and for only a short time during those days and are still able to get so much done.

Together, this group helped Cement City Industries generate just over $10,000 in revenue while supporting customers and organizations throughout our community and surrounding area. We are incredibly thankful to every customer, supporter, parent, teacher, coach, and community member who trusted our students and supported what we are building here at Mitchell High School.

As always, the profits generated through Cement City Industries go directly back into supporting Career and Technical Education (CTE) opportunities at Mitchell High School, while also being shared with the student workers who helped make it all possible.

To our seniors graduating on Friday: thank you. Thank you for believing in this program, taking pride in your work, and helping build something bigger than yourselves. Whether you are entering the workforce, continuing your education, or pursuing another path, I wish you nothing but success in your future endeavors.

You will be missed more than you know.

Please join us in congratulating Mitchell High School Senior Caleb Cheney on earning his Smart Automation Certification Alliance - SACA C-101 Basic Operations GOLD Certification! 🏅

This certification is a hands-on industrial certification that demonstrates real-world skills in advanced manufacturing, safety, production processes, quality practices, and Industry 4.0 technologies.

The GOLD level represents a high level of achievement and showcases Caleb’s dedication, technical ability, and hard work in Principles of Industry 4.0 program at Mitchell High School.

Students completing these certifications are gaining experience with the same types of systems, processes, and problem-solving skills used in today’s modern manufacturing and industrial workplaces.

Great job, Caleb! Your hard work continues to represent Mitchell Community Schools and Cement City Industries in a positive way. Good luck at Purdue University in the Fall!!

Student Success in Industry 4.0 at Mitchell High School!

Cement City Industries is proud to recognize the hard work and achievements of students in Mr. Reed’s Principles of Industry 4.0 course at Mitchell High School!

Congratulations to Branson White and Kaden Mikels for successfully earning their Smart Automation Certification Alliance - SACA C101 – Certified Industry 4.0 Associate: Basic Operations certification. This industry-recognized credential demonstrates their knowledge and readiness for today’s advanced manufacturing environments.

Cement City Industries has been BUSY lately!!

Over the past few weeks, our students have had some incredible opportunities to represent Mitchell High School and showcase what student-run businesses can accomplish. We were proud to attend the Greater Mitchell Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner, connecting with community members and sharing the impact of our program. We also had the opportunity to participate in the Regional Opportunity Initiatives Student-Run Business Conference, where our students learned, collaborated, and gained new ideas to bring back to Cement City.

On top of that, our shop has been hard at work producing custom plaques for some outstanding groups! Bluejackets Wrestling Club and Mitchell High School Stingerz Dance Team/ Mitchell Jr. High Dance Team

We are incredibly proud of the work our students have done and the quality they continue to produce.

We’ve been very busy, but we are beyond grateful for the continued support from our school and community. Every order, every opportunity, and every connection helps our students gain real-world experience and grow their skills.

Check it out! Our Mitchell Playground Project donation thermometer is now proudly on display at Marion Township Fire Department! A huge thank you to Cement City Industries and MHS Building Trades for creating this massive sign for us! Thank you to Marion Township Fire Department for supporting the project! And thank you to Ian Powell for creating the design!

We can’t wait to watch that spaceship blast all the way to the top as we work toward our goal of building a brand-new, inclusive playground for our community.

When someone brings us an idea—like vinyl wrapping an old cooler—we don’t hesitate. We jump right into the challenge.

Are we perfect every time? No. But one thing you can count on is this: we will always show up, work hard, and do everything we can to help out our friends and community.
