Hey everyone, here! Thank you for having me today and giving me this opportunity to not only share my work, but to share my knowledge with this talented community. Please feel free to DM me if you have any questions, but let’s get started!
•
First off, I like to choose a photo that has an all-around flat lighting and a bright spot somewhere in it. In this case, the sky in the background (for stylistic purposes). Flat lighting enables you to manipulate photos more easily versus hard shadows and hot spots on a subject.
•
This second picture is after I used the Clone Stamp to remove the person. I personally like doing an 80% job (pretty rough as you can see in the video) while finishing it off with multiple patches from the Patch Tool to blend the Clone Stamp and the background together.
•
Now, I import a photo I found of a mountain with a similar flat lighting and color. I click on the Layer Mask Tool and, using the black brush and the layer mask selected, I paint away the bottom with a semi hard brush to get that seamless horizon.
•
I use the Marquee Tool to remove the boy, also known as rotoscoping. I edited him a bit to match the scene’s saturation.
•
As for the glow on the light, I used a soft brush that had a similar color to the lamp’s highlights. I used a lot of Gaussian Blur and made adjustments to the opacity.
•
Similarly, with the water reflection, I duplicated the layer of the boy and used the Gaussian blur on him. You might need to add some grain back as the background plate is a lot grainier than the boy.
•
Lastly, I put my Lightroom preset on the image to end up with the finished product!
