✨ Double Your Impact for the film Romare Bearden: A Life in Collage! ✨

We are two weeks into our 30-day $50,000 fundraising campaign for the Romare Bearden documentary. And we're blown away by the incredible support of entrepreneur and philanthropist Fay Ferguson who has generously partnered with the Southern Documentary Fund to match every dollar donated to "Romare Bearden: A Life in Collage" – up to a phenomenal $10,000 total!
Romare Bearden created some of the most prolific art depicting the Black Experience, and he fought for visibility and representation of Black and Brown artists and creators. His activism was as powerful as his art. He co-founded the Studio Museum of Harlem and Cinque Gallery. Bearden believed in lifting other artists, and now, Fay is embodying that same spirit to help bring this vital documentary to life.

A huge thank you to everyone who has already contributed! And now, with Fay's incredible match, your donation will go TWICE as far. Let's put Fay to work and honor Bearden's legacy together!

Click here if you would like to donate $25 or any amount you're comfortable with (it's tax-deductible!): http://bit.ly/3JofkWv
Put FAY'S MATCHING CHALLENGE IN THE NOTE. Even if you don't donate, we would love for you to spread the word! Every share helps us reach more supporters.

Thank you from Coffee Bluff Pictures, Deborah Riley Draper, Jocelyn Moore, Jarobi Moorhead, Robin Lyon, the Southern Documentary Fund, and the Romare Bearden Foundation. Bluff Pictures

We are excited to announce that RATIFIED is an official selection for this year’s Montclair Film Festival, which kicks off tomorrow and runs from October 18 to 27! The film highlights the battle to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment, exploring its history and relevance today.

Screening times for RATIFIED:

Saturday, October 26 at 3:45 pm
Sunday, October 27 at 2:45 pm
Each screening will include a Q&A session with director Deborah Riley Draper and co-creator Emily Best—a great opportunity to hear directly from the filmmakers.

The Montclair Film Festival, in its 13th year, has a long-standing reputation for celebrating a diverse range of films and filmmakers. Be sure to catch RATIFIED at this exciting festival and engage in the conversation about equal rights.

Directed by Deborah Riley Draper and Sabaah Folayan and co-created by Emily Best with Producer Megan Goedewaagen, RATIFIED examines how most Americans believe the U.S. Constitution protects gender equality. It does not. The 100-year fight for an equal rights amendment (ERA) has required the tending of old wounds to forge a truly inclusive movement. RATIFIED is about the women building a truly intersectional movement for equality, fighting relentlessly against people who hide behind procedure to deny foundational protections for all people. RATIFIED asks: If our ideals and bureaucracies can fail, even in support of something as wildly popular as equal rights, what does that mean for our democracy?
For more screening details, visit the Montclair Film Festival guide, page 107, and follow the festival for updates. Click the link in bio for tickets.

I’m excited to speak at 2024 AdWeek’s   with !

I love storytelling in all forms. I started my career in advertising by working at the big agencies of the global holding companies on big blue chip brands as a VP of Client Services, Strategist, and now a Filmmaker and Commercial Director. I’ve seen firsthand the power and success of representation when it truly happens in all the aspects and roles required to make great advertising work. I have also witnessed and experienced the negligent and unaccountable choices made through conscious and unconscious bias. While we’ve made strides, the industry still needs to figure out what drives the bias and the perpetuation of harmful racial, class, geographical, and gender tropes.

Let’s discuss how we can get to the truth in advertising and create a pathway for creating great work that inspires the next generation and does not harm our consumers’ social and cultural well-being.

Join us at   on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at The Female Quotient Equality Lounge as we discuss how to move beyond surface-level diversity and delve into the nuances of authentic representation with panelists Tina Rodriguez Jenny Lumpkin and moderator Mikki Taylor

💪 We’ll discuss how to:
1. Go deeper than just “casting” - the meaningful choices, not the transactional ones
2. Ensure authentic representation, not just the color of skin or a song genre
3. Hold the creative process accountable for its choices or lack of choices
4. Challenge harmful stereotypes and tropes that continue longstanding social injustice
5. Promote true inclusivity and representation throughout the process

Let’s ignite conversations that lead to real action and progress! RSVP here: https://lnkd.in/gatY4qYU
